Very nice!

Don't forget about the VIIC/41 skin, either!

Also, if you would, please reconsider the texturing on the AA and deck guns. The breech as you painted it is grey, not to mention the sight ring and barrels are also painted grey. From the pictures I've seen, these were all a very dark grey or black color, not the light grey as seen in your texturing. The link you have for Topp's "Red Devil" boat is really helpful in this regard.

The same goes as well for the curved "shoulder padding" the sailors brace themselves against when firing the AA guns (should be a brownish color) and the deck gun (should be black/dark grey).

This is really the only thing I can say about I dislike about your work; everything else is really top-notch. If you'd give these another look that would be awesome. Thanks!

Wow...amazing work fubar. Just to let you know, I was interested more in the lighter grey/white color but I'll take the great detail you've done so far. You rock!

Great picture...I mentioned this before...notice the smoke from the real photo? I was wondering if theis could be done...to add a little smoke from the engines? I posted this before but some felt there is no smoke for various reasons/but the phot here is evidence that smoke would help in the visual depiction of theses subs.

I don't think been coloring them grey intentionally. While experimenting, i disabled all skins excpet for his latest XXI skin, and when i went to look at a IXC boat, i noticed that barrels were all grey, but the breech was black, along with all other various parts, it looked really cool. I had thought fubar retouched his GUNS_SUB.dat file when he did the XXI skin. I then used this file and reactivated all his other sub skins im using and the guns were solid grey again.

So i think this is a function, side effect, or some mask of some sort that the game uses with the default skins, im not sure how its doing it.

Just a question, if anyone knows offhand.... if you swap a skin mid-patrol while SH3 is running, will the new skin appear on the boat?

The reason I ask, is that when boats were refitted between patrols, they were repainted, after a week or two at sea they would begin rusting again, and would prove weather beaten by the end of an 8 week patrol...

Im just wondering about the implications of simulating something like this within SH3....
