Gents, I would like to apologize, RR ask me to break things.... err, uhhhhh I mean "beta test"... yeah that's it, Beta Test and my life gets rather busy shortly thereafter...


Spent the last week swapping a 5-speed into a friends 90s pickup, replacing the 250k plus slipping automatic (aka "slush-box").

And this is just the most recent "busy-ness" that has occurred...

Hopefully things calm down soon.

First I knew I was in trouble was the big BOOM!!!... I hope the watch get their eyebrows back soon. Looking at the boat on the Crew screen, and no hull damage. That's not right, but oh well. The PT boat of course didn't fare as well...

I'm running a campaign per cdrsubron7, who was having unexplained CTDs. No problems so far, and believe it or not I'm running my campaign right now while reporting on it from another window. As long as I'm running SH4 in windowed mode, it seems I have no ill effects from multitasking.

But I have a question. Whose great idea was this? (spot the anomaly!):


I'm coming up empty on this one how this could not have been caught for as many years as it's been out. Wow! That's a groaner!

Where was the CTD, and what time frame? It might have been in one of the MIS files I just fixed. Then again, might be something that got missed again...

What's wrong with that? It just means they "shun" (kun-ver-shun) the mathematics... instead of zhun, where a person likes the math... What's an "S" or a "T" in today's modern skewlinn, everybody-gets-a-trophy world?... Why, most of us are so numb from it all, we've been missing that since 2007 anyway!...

no worries Hitman. We've got it (we hope) to where the user will see "Bismarck", but the computer and game still see "Bismark", which is what someone named it years ago...

Bingo! And propbeanie is right. It is a thoroughly unreadable table to be sure. I doubt I could just edit that letter, so maybe a whole new screen is called for.

I'd LOVE to know who came up with that. If it was one of the AOTD group, which speaks German, I'd understand, but my money's on Ducimus or Lurker. Imagine! That thing has been out there for at least six years and nobody has screamed about it to date. Wonder if that's evidence that nobody uses the thing?

I'm running a test on my new work on the campaign layer, and accidentally hit the <Caps Lock> key without realizing it, for about 15 minutes... scared the be-jeebers out of me... I thought I'd done messed-up bad, and after all that CTD work last night... whew! Nothing functions as intended if you hit the <Cap Lock>... you get all sorts of strange responses to key presses.

It's up in Area 51. But I just discovered that in my zeal for keeping my PM folders shy of 400 posts and choking, I have accidentally deleted my Subsim FTP credentials. Since my Windows crash I've been working in Ubuntu with a different Firefox installation so the remembered credentials aren't remembered. So until I get another copy from Neal, our first public beta won't be really public.

Shhhhhh! Keep this between us but if Neal got 100 PMs asking him to reissue me my FTP credentials maybe something would happen?

Just as soon as my SNAFU gets worked out, everyone can check out FOTRS Ultimate Edition public beta.

Known Issues:

• The enemy AI is dialed up for multiplayer. A single player better pick his battles so far. We'll be dialing that back a bit and issuing plugin mods so you can choose your own game difficulty.
• The campaigns are recovering from some pretty abusive handling by past modding teams. The further we look the more we find that needs work. It's good enough now for public use. We would appreciate reports of weird stuff.

Thanks to cdrsubron7 and his detective sleuthing and investigation, we'll have a patch. We might be able to get it before RR gets his credentials back... maybe if I contact Onkel Neal, and tell him to slow you up RR...
