U-2513 (Type XXI)







Surrendered at Horten, Norway on 8 May, 1945. Taken to Oslo on 20 May. Left Oslo for Lisahally, Northern Ireland to which it reached on 7 June. Transferred to USA in August 1945 and used for trials. Sunk at 24.53N, 83.15W west of Key West, Florida during rocket tests by the destroyer USS Robert A. Owens on 7 Oct, 1951

Sunk 8 April, 1945 at Hamburg by bombs. Wreck broken up.

U-2518 (Type XXI)




Surrendered at Horten, Norway on 8 May, 1945. At Oslo on 3 June and taken to Lisahally, reaching it on 7th June.
Transferred to France on 14 Feb, 1946 and became the French submarine Roland Morillot. Stricken on 17 Oct, 1967 as Q426. Broken up in 1969

Scuttled on 3 May, 1945 south-east of the island of Fehmarn, Germany, in the Kattegat in position 54.26N, 11.39E. 1 dead, unknown number of survivors.

Scuttled on 3 May, 1945 at Travemünde. Wreck broken up.

U-2540 (Type XXI)



Scuttled on 4 May, 1945 near the Flensburg lightship. Raised in 1957. Became the research vessel Wilhelm Bauer in the Bundesmarine, 1 Sept 1960. Transferred to the Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum (German Maritime Museum) at Bremerhaven in 1984.

Sunk 3 April, 1945 at the Hindenburg bank at Kiel, by bombs. Wreck broken up.

U-2551 (Type XXI)

Grounded on 5 May, 1945 near Flensburg Solitude, in position 54.49N, 09.28E. Blown up by Royal Navy on 23 July 1945. Wreck broken up.


U-3001 (Type XXI)

Scuttled on 3 May, 1945 north-west of Wesermünde. Wreck broken up.

U-3008 (Type XXI)







The boat left Wilhelmshaven, Germany for patrol on 3 May, 1945. On 21 June, 1945 she was taken from Wilhelmshaven to Loch Ryan. Transferred to USA in August 1945. Used for trials. Taken out of service in July 1948. Sunk after demolition tests in May 1954. Broken up at Puerto Rico.

Sunk at 1730hrs on 3 May, 1945 at Kiel, by bombs.

U-3514 (Type XXI)

Transferred from Bergen, Norway to Loch Ryan, Scotland on 29 May, 1945 for Operation Deadlight.


U-3515 (Type XXI)



Surrendered at Horten, Norway in May, 1945. Transferred from Horten to Loch Ryan, Scotland on 19 May, 1945.Became the British submarine N 30. Transferred to the USSR in 1945. From Feb 1946 to Sept 1972 in the Soviet Navy as B-27, later BS-28 and UTS-3. Used from Jan 1957 as a training boat. Broken up in 1973.

U-3527 (Type XXI)

Scuttled on 5 May, 1945 in the western Weser estuary. Wreck broken up.

Transferred from Kristiansand Süd, Norway to Loch Ryan, Scotland on 29 May, 1945 and given a British pennant number.


U-4709 (Type XXIII)

Scuttled on 4 May, 1945 at Germaniawerft, Kiel. Wreck broken up.


U-4712 (Type XXIII)

Scuttled on 3 May 1945 at Germaniawerft, Kiel. Wreck broken up.

Je trouve l'histoire de la technologie montree vraiment phenomenale, mais le nombre de morts figurant apres chaque sousmarin perdu vraiment attristant.
