As an avid gamer in this genre, I'd like to recommend Steel Ocean who is looking for a game similar to World of Warships but is unsatisfied with the content and mechanics. I was a very big fan of the Silent Hunter series and NavyField. Not much has come along since their heyday to scratch the itch. Except for Steel Ocean.

So the obvious question begs to be asked, why bother with a lesser known Chinese publisher?

And here are some answers.

You don't have just one commander. You have 5. Each commander has their own unique and sometimes historical name and 4-5 skills. The commanders progress through 10 levels and 5 proficiency levels (stars) to to unlock skills. Aside from the skills revealed on their cards, their level and proficiency also boost some of the ships base stats. And the best thing is, they don't need to be retrained to be used on different ships. That's right. Already reached tier 10 on your USN BB and want to start a new BB line on a different nation? Just load them up.
Full control over secondary and AA guns!

Full control over aircraft. They go where you tell them. Attack when you tell them. And stay there even if they run out of fuel.
You decide what type of aircraft you want to run on your CV. Any combination is possible between fighters, TB's, DB's and scouts.
A renown system. As your rank increases from each battle, you get showered with gifts every week.
Easy to get into. This game showers you with gifts for events, especially as a newbie. As well as a decent tutorial system.
