A game would forgive your errors, respawn you and a few seconds later you'd be on your way.

Yeah, the short answer for now is "don't bother". Especially since it's a massive download and would take you forever, and not even run at all.
DCS is very demanding, several times more so than IL-2. I wouldn't trust the minimum or even the recommended requirements on that thing. |

Thanks once again guys for telling me what I expected.
My laptop is a POS when it comes to gaming. I will play DCS one of these days and when I do it'll be glorious.

Maybe get a smaller car and a bigger PC.
You don't need a 'Stang. You want, you would like, but you don't need.

I love IL-2 1946....I love 2005 or 1970 'Stangs. What i'd really like is to save $2500 and buy the FN FS2000 I saw at the sporting goods store the other day. That was one of the coolest things I've ever held.

Since you play IL-2 "only", one reminder of what it means to jump from that to DCS.
IL-2 is a game, and you are done after reading 5 minutes at best, not counting to set up your keyboard commands. DCS, every title of theirs, apparently, means in-depth study sims - and you need to treat them like that if you want to get the best out of them. That means: you will need to spend hours with reading.
