I found that wargames websites like Games Workshop for example, were good for tutorials. I got the Battle Games in Middle Earth magazine series, dunno if you remember it being advertised, but in each issue you got a figure(s) and a guide on how to paint it, that's how I learnt. I'll have a rifle through my wardrobe see if I can find any good ones and I'll scan them if ya want . I'll try and find some examples of the ones I've done too, I'm the resident figure painter at my local model club, but most of the stuff I do gets given straight back to whoever asked me to paint it.

I manged to find good tutorial online.

Easy stuff by the look of it.

I got my figures out of the box, and decided to make the little dry fitting.

Some sanding is required.

TBC...

The figures are gonna look crazy good when painted and fitted to the conning tower. Will you have some manning the gun[s]? (Although I suppose with one torpedo tube open it might look funny)

I think, Siara, to maintain the standard of verisimilitude that you have set for yourself, you should consider sanding the men down to their underwear and making little sets of clothes for them from scratch.

Don't forget the Teufel tatoo on the WO's arm!

p.s. srsly. I'm awestruck

I will have 3 figures manning the 88mm.
Open torpedo tube doesnt colide with using the gun. Attacks were made on surface, and gun was used to finish the job- especially dduring first happy times.
There is going to be only tip of the torpedo visible from the tube, like it was open, but not shot out.

On the other hand, you're building a beautiful static display model, not a diorama. Have you considered finishing it without the figures?

No.

I think boat without the crew looks baren of life, and empty.
Theres lots of examples online of boats with the crew, and it looks much, much better.

Some seams were filled with highly dilluted milliput. Washed the figures in warm, soapy water, and installed on the soft drink tops. Painted with just the mist of Tamiya primer, and left in the Rafaello chocolates box to cure.
