Thanks, I'll give that a shot when I get a chance.

I'll try and install it tonight (I think I know where my CD is!) and see if I have the same problem. I think I ran it on XP before and I don't remember a problem last time.

One thing of note - you cannot start it Automatically per the readme - you must 'always' use the executable from the 'XP patch'.

I played a couple missions without the Glide wrapper. It didn't crash, but performance was not a happy thing. The 3D jerks a lot! This is probably due to DX 9.0 when the game was designed for DX 6.0. I don't think that DX's are all completely 100% backwards compatible. It used to be billed that way to us in the past though.

dGVoodoo has a newer and better Glide wrapper out. Get it at the NWS site or at http://dege.freeweb.hu/. Also try out FSAutostart, it'll help some of the jerkyness.

Hey spearo and welcome to Subsim.

Have you patched your game? The 1.38 upgrade seems to fix some sound problem, dont know if it'll work for you, but worth a try.

Same problem here. The curious thing is that it runs fine when 3D is either disabled or in full screen, but the small 3D view on the map screen is awfully slow and jerky. Glide wrappers didn't help yet.

Got the game from Steam running on XP SP2 Intel duo 2.8 Ghz 2GB ram and Nvidia 7300 GS
It runs so smooth and never got a single issue ... only font text is so small.
