Things are also complicated further by the fact that there is a distinct group of autistic people who are known as 'High-Functioning Aspergers-Syndrome' (I believe that Alan Turing was one) and they often refer to themselves as "Aspies". These are the guys who seem super-clever to the rest of us 'Neurotypicals' (as they sometimes call us). So your description of the little girl was spot-on, as she may have been one of this group... but they do also have their own individual ways.

Our boy is just plain autistic, so he'll be unlikely to even understand the benefit of making the effort to fit in with the normal world and perform a useful function (work). And although Moira just now offered to give him £1.00 to do a bit of cutlery-drying, he doesn't really understand money or its part in society (this comes from having a bum for a father). Aspergers people seem usually to be keen to impress and do well, whereas Lawrence needs continual prompting to stay on task if it's something other than playing Sonic The Hedgehog.

Just a small insight this, but I'd hasten to add that he quickly gets under peoples skin because he's always happy and often very funny.

You're more than welcome as I meant it and I'm sure others feel the same way. With regards to Lawrence getting under people's skin because he is happy, that's their problem and the product of ignorance.


You, Moira and Lawrence are better off without them anyhow.





Btw, if Lawrence is that funny, have him send me a resume. My writers are on strike so i can use all the help I can get. If he is getting under people's skin with his sense of humor, that's a bonus.

Nope, it's a bad thing ... means the person is getting mad, angry, upset with you when they get under your skin.

Fathers Day here in the UK so I'm off to see the daughter and her husband this afternoon as per their invite.

After numerous visits to the eye infirmary over the past year it has now been decided that the odema in my left eye is not going to take a hike by itself so I'm to have laser eye surgery within the next fortnight. Time to polish up the white walking stick.
