Default How to change start location of your sub? As well as time of day.

Something that has long bothered me is starting at the naval yard in pearl and not at sub base(sub base is represented in Navamap makeover mod) and when assigns to depart in middle of the night.I usually just wait until morning but sometimes cant run high TC to get there quickly.

So, how do you change the defaul start location so if i start in harbor, can start at naval yard.Also, how do control what time of day your patrol starts.Thanks in advance.

bubblehead,

did you ever receive response of any kind for your question?
or
did you figure it out on your own?

i would like to do something similar and would be interested in a solution.
thanks.

Mark, to change the start position, you'll need info from the Mission Editor. When you open the ME, you'll need to make its window just a pinch shorter, so that the info bar at the bottom shows. That will display the Latitude and Longitude of where ever your mouse pointer is. The closer you zoom in, the more 'precise' the numbers displayed. What I have done with this image, is opened the ME, opened US_NavalBases.mis, merged US_HarborTraffic.mis and merged Campaign_LOC.mis - do NOT click the 'Mark merged data as saveable' tick box. Make sure that is empty so that you do NOT SAVE a merge of the files. This way though, with the "merged" files, you can see most of what else might start in Pearl. Some locations, you'll have to merge other / more files. Note the bottom info bar in this picture:

"Coords Lng: -18954... " etc. My mouse cursor was up there where there is a red circled little flower, up at the 'top' of the Navy Yard. Notice also at the end of that info bar line, that there is a "Height: -54..." That is gotten by holding down the "H" key on the keyboard, and then either moving the mouse slightly, or pressing a mouse button. Not a bad idea to see how deep the water is where you're thinking of spawning... of course, the FotRSU team "dredged" Pearl Harbor, so it's deeper in our mod than in Stock (or real life, for that matter). Anyway, you'll need those figures (Lng, Lat, heading) of where you're wanting to spawn, and then you put them in the Flotilla.upc file found in the Data / UPCData / UIPCCampaignData / folder. Choose the appropriate Flotilla. Here's the Pearl listing:
[Flotilla 1.Base 1]
ID= PearlHarbor
NameDisplayable= Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
ExternalBaseName=Pearl Harbor
AvailabilityInterval= NULL, NULL
DepartureDescription1= -18954703, 2562919, 45.918098 ; Enum of available points, chooses one randomly blah blah
DepartureDescription2= -18954874, 2563059, 46.252201
;DepartureDescriptionOut1= 21438780, 3367405, 270.000000 ; Enum of starting points for when blah blah
DepartureDescriptionOut1= -18957616, 2548824, 242.189346 ; Enum of starting points for when blah blah
The "DepartureDescriptionOut" is when you choose to start OUTSIDE the harbor, and the regular "DepartureDescription" listings are for inside the harbor. There is no preference given to the 1 and / or 2 choices. It's a random kind of thang, so if you wanted to add a DepartureDescription3= to Pearl, there ya go... OH! that third number given is the "heading" on the compass, carried to six decimals, if you want to get so precise. You might also notice that the original DepartureDescriptionOut1 has been commented out, so as not to delete the figures - just in case...

Another way to get your Lng/Lat numbers is to go ahead and place a submarine into the ME, Save the file, and then look at its placement numbers in the file in a text editor. If you look at a ship listing in an editor, you'll see these lines:
Category=0
CommandEntry=0
Long=16947500.000000
Lat=5195000.000000
Height=0.000000
DelayMin=1
That's just a random RGG's placement lines, and West of the IDL, btw, since the Long= number is not a negative figure...

Sorry 'bout that... "Random Generated Group". They're the little yellow boxes in the picture above, from the US_HarborTraffic file. The green ones are the regular ships, already chosen, with a set time, from the US_NavalBases file. RGG can have a spawning percentage as a group, and with the individual ships in the group. btw, you can't directly "set" the time of departure for your boat.

well...it works. i followed your direction in using the MissionEditor to find a lat/long location, edited the Flotilla.UPC file and now i am able to depart from the position that i wanted. thank you.

btw, one CAN directly set the departure time of the boat. edit the CareerTrack.UPC file that will be in use at the time of departure. change the line PatrolStartDateTime= by following the date-time format already in place. the caveat is to be sure that one doesn't set the new departure date/time to conflict with the CurrentDate= otherwise you get to go The Big Nowhere (crash city).

Are you talking about the CareerTrack.UPC in the Save folder?

I would have thought that was the easiest way to change the mission start time.
I routinely change the start date when I'm in port and I've never had an issue with it.

Are you messing in the Save folder though Barkerov? I ask for curiosity.

just so there is no misunderstanding, the only time a player would want to change the time is while his boat was at his home base between patrols.

changing that value at any other time would probably be disastrous.
{lol} time of departure? {lol} not time to ef' up your patrol. {lol}

The Save files make me nervous, probably leftovers from SH3... but I tend to stay away from them, unless I ~need~ to try and recover an exemplary career and try to finish ~alive~, for once in over 11 years... I do know (from someone smarter than me) that a few of the files have "size" protection and should not be messed with unless you are familiar with them and the associated "check" file, but I think those are the binaries...
