Default Very nice article on the USS Fitzgerald accident

https://features.propublica.org/navy...crash-crystal/

I normally have a like/dislike relationship with Propublica. There are stories I like and those I don't like, which I guess, might make them a good site.

In any case, I really liked this, rather long, explanation of what happened. I learned a lot.

Even though I suspect there was journalistic license used, I appreciated how the author discussed the human aspect of the incident and the individuals.

Makes you wonder about the training these poor guys are supposed to get, or the lack of!

At times it seemed that they got too much training for the unimportant stuff and not enough training for the important stuff.

If your people are exhausted, working them harder is seldom a good idea.

It's worth reading gcaptain for their take on it too.

Actually, I have a question - do they not use bridge simulators (to train) in the U.S. Navy?

This is a very interesting read and narrative on the " accident ." I will read through it a few times. Thanks for posting this. The article does raise a good number of troubling questions. Questions that have been asked over and over without an acceptable answer.
