There was a polish train right next to our airfield.
Guess who killed himself trying to get it.....

I guess our Flak tried to take the train out and since Oleg's AI is about as sharp as the front side of a truck it shot our planes on the ground.
I still would like to know why my TrackIr didn't work in that mission though......I hate to crash because I have to take my hands of the joystick to look around with the mouse.

Alt+tab usually doesnt make the TIR to not work. I've had some occasions where the TIR has though the game is still running even if it isnt, so when you start the game the TIR doesnt start properly and it wont work. This can be solved by quitting & restarting TIR. Just check the lights in the TIR before you start the game, if the blue (or whatever the color is when TIR is in game mode) on is on, then you need to restart it.

I closed Il2 before and restarted it. Track IR was running all the time so it should have noticed that the game started again. Oh well, as long as it doesn't happen frequently....

It's not that regular thing (well depends how much you use it of course). Anywho, just check the lights when you are about to start playing, the blue light should turn on after the game has started, if it's already lit, then it's stuck->restart.

Well, 'eres what happened:

I was lined up for take-off behind a 110 when Task Force reported he was being shot at. I saw some smoke up ahead but didn't think much of it, then suddenly my cockpit was shot up and my left engine trashed. Thinking we were under attack from the air, and not wanting to hold back Schroeder and the rest, I quickly throttled up, slammed left full rudder and got off the runway. Meanwhile Schroeder and the rest of the He-111s took off, or so I thought, as I taxied back onto the runway to take off, I caught a quick glimpse of another 111 approaching from the right and...BANG!!

PS: Oh yeah, and one of the funniest things was after the initial crash. Since I was dead I could switch to external, to find that my He-111 was still going on full throttle but with one engine and wing, slowly sliding across the runway. It only stopped when the port engine finally exploded and damaged the starboard one.
