Just thought of something... Storm of war+ UBI= Storm of war DRM

GRR... I hope Oleg dosent use UBI as Storm of wars US publisher... I just thought about it, and realised who the publisher on the Il2 box is.

I was pondering that when the news broke, could be a major spanner in the works if he does. I guess whether he will or not depends on the public reaction to games such as SHV and other upcoming Ubi releases with the DRM.

Let's hope so. Would be a shame to have to let this title go as well after waiting for it for so long. But if it comes with the same BS as SHV it's a no go for me regardless how good it is.

SoW was announced as a Ubisoft game. Mind you the announcment said we would be playing it in 2006... lol

http://www.ubi.com/US/News/Info.aspx?nId=3950

If Ubi intends to add this to all PC titles as stated, and IF SoW is released as a Ubi title.. and if online DRM worries you then yeah, I would be worried. Start askin' questions.

Right you are. And most game sites list Ubisoft as the publisher. But I'm quite sure that is because that is the "latest" info about it. I dont see why 1C Publishing wouldnt publish BoB:SoW. They have published many big-ish games lately (Men of War, Theatre of War 1 &2 to name few).

Well for the sanity of flight sim forums everywhere I hope your right! lol

Just to be devil's advocate though.. it obviously was to be a Ubi title at some point.. Oleg may still be contractually bound to that.

On the bright side, if it is only Ubi based on old contracts, Oleg may have the right to say "you ain't puttin' that crap in my game". Also on the bright, these DRMs are so much a part of the code that SoW may be well past implementing it.

I've heard about the 1C Ubi fight before, but didnt pay much attention to it. But now with the new DRM, this might very well mean that no Ubi is involved with BoB:SoW.

But then again, you might be right on the contract part.

IIRC, I red that Oleg personally is against these DRM's so from his end we don't have to worry....

UBI on the other hand.....did they took classes from EA?
but heck, let's see how much centuries it will take before those thickheads finally come to see that DRM's like these Damage their sales...their loss not mine.

Default DRM Issues

Agree with all you've said chaps-DRM is a particular hate of mine.
It's my money so if publishers want to do without it, then thats what they will do, cos I won't buy. Shame, I keep my main PC segregated and like all my stuff on disc so I can reload whatever - when I want - like after a mod or update screw up. Don't want to be relying on a server somewhare run by a company that might disappear overnight to DL what was already mine - but can't get it back. Steam wel!! AAGGHH don't go there!
Rant over I'm going now before I'm classed as a nutter!!
