Default Most realistic optics?

I don't care about wide screen (I can do either), I don't care about fancy graphics, I'm looking for what would be the most realistic optics in SH3 that would compare to the real world submarines.

I'm going to re-install SH3, and perhaps go with one of the mega mods, not sure, but most importantly, I'm wondering what mod or which optics is realistic compared to what was really used in the U-Boats.

The reason I ask is that there are so many nice looking mods, but each has a different look. The OLC has that really cool vernier thing. Works great, but is this what they used?
Reading the help in Wolfpack led me to believe that they just used milliradians, and calculated the distance based on the angle.

So.. I'm thinking, all the mods that show a distance when you dial the vernier thing and pick the mast height.. are these wrong?

After playing the new Wolfpack game, I'm asking myself, how can I get this in SH3? Is this realistic?

I may use GWX, or even the newer WAC, but either way, I'm hoping to replicate what was really seen in the scopes and how they were used.

There are SOO MANY MODS lol.. How do I choose?

Hitman's Optics is my suggestion.

Check out Hitman's mods, which are based on his own research, battle reports, and personal observation of surviving U-boat optics. His techniques are quite different than what you see in Das Boot. Many SH3 aficianados seem to prefer more sophisticated fire control tools. But Hitman's work has been out there for years, and AFAIK no one has ever seriously challenged their historical accuracy. And Hitman's methods work well in SH3, with just a bit of training.

Thanks everyone! I will try those! I have seen them somewhere, read a little, but never really looked closely.

Would they work with any of the mega mods?

oh wait those are GWX.. I think I'm going to try NYGM.
Will Hitman 3.2 (latest I could find here) work with NYGM 3.6 (latest I can find here)?

Question answers.....

- the two links you have above are both the same thing I believe. For GWX as you noted.

- yes, they work with the megamods. NYGM and GWX have their own versions made by him.

- NYGM comes with both his gui and his optics as part of it's optional files.

Thank you John,
I have successfully installed NYGM (I hope lol), and have started out on my first mission, Sep, 1939.
I am running at 100% difficulty, however, I've turned on the stabilized view as without it, I get rather nauseated .
