No Zoom in/Zoom out Capability

I have had trouble creating a zoom out or zoom in keyboard command. I have a trackball mouse, not a mouse-wheel mouse. I had to settle by buying an old-fashioned mouse-wheel mouse to zoom out and in.
F1 did not help, and neither did an advanced search for navigation zoom out for SH5. For SH3 and SH4, I could edit their respective commands.cfg file to use my own keyboard shortcuts. I have no problem editing files such as commands.cfg for SH5, I have experimented with cmds 70-74 , I can not create zoom in/out keyboard shortcuts to work for SH5. It is not a mod issue, since I uninstalled all mods and at the vanilla version of SH5 1.2; zooming still does not work.
Has anyone figured how to use a USB trackball mouse and zoom out/zoom in keyboard commands? Still curious from a configuration point of view. Why this still will not work? Unless it has something to do with the SH5 executables, etc.
