Default Problems reinstalling mods with JSGME

Hey everyone. So I had a bunch of mods working on SH4. I wanted to uninstall one, I believe the Game Fixes Only Mod 1.1. It gave a ton of errors while uninstalling because I guess it didn't create a backup or something because it was listing tons of missing files. I don't know if that's the case, just a guess.

Anyway. I uninstalled SH4 and Uboats. Reinstalled. My JSGME still had all of the file locations set up. So I copy all of my mods to the MOD folder, open JSGME, and try to install some mods. However nothing happens. The mod moves over to the right side, but no installing happens. I open the game, and of course nothing changed.

I've tried everything but uninstalling JSGME. And that's because you can't uninstall it. It's just an exe file.

Anyone ever run into this issue? I'm reinstalling SH4 for the 3rd time after this nonsense as we speak and this is getting incredibly frustrating. Thanks guys.

You reinstalled to c: /programfiles x86/.... or whatever the default was.

Don't use the default, make a c:/games/ directory or something.

Either that, or your mod folders are empty.... happened to me once too.

Sorry, forgot to mention it's a Steam game. So it goes into the Steam folder hierarchy. I have the EXACT same setup with SH3. The only change is the "Start in" location under the JSGME icon properties.

Also yes, I have the mods in there lol. They all show up on the left side of JSGME. I can move them to the right. But the green progress bar in the bottom does nothing, meaning no file changes have taken place. Plus the evidence of opening the game and noticing no changes.

This is driving me insane.

Look inside your mod folders to make sure all the files are there.
Empty folders will still show, and move over. I wasted half a day doing the same thing.

Wait a sec. wtf? All of the folders are empty lol. They have the entire folder structure but no actual files. How does that even happen?

BTW, this is my second day working on this. I don't even like SH4 but I'm really trying because SH3 is getting too repetitive.

Drove me nuts.

Sounds like you should be on the right track now.

Thank you so much! I just tried a couple and they are working. I would have never thought that to be a problem. Wow.

Now to get this game working more like SH3.

Off topic. Is there a mod to make the freaking game brighter at night? I can't see a thing. Gamma correction isn't the answer because that makes EVERYTHING brighter.

Also I miss my stealth meter. I need one of those.

I'm not a 100% player if you've noticed.

Can't help you there. Sorry.
Although I personally run Op Monsoon and OMEGU.
