Hey ! Does GWX 3.0 contain any files in data\Textures\TNormal\tex ? It seems that i've lost all of them... If it is the case, could anyone tell me how to recover them without downloading all GWX ? It would be great !!

You didn't lose anything. That folder is empty as all textures are in the dats or unit folders.

Hi!
Is there a RAOBF ring mod usable with GWX3? If yes, then please advise where to find it.

I use the MaGuiF mod. It works well with GWX and it has a RAOBF disk, and much more stuff...

This one?
The description says it is designed for 1024x768 resolution. The WS version - for 1360x768. My resolution is 1280x1024. Will it work OK?

Really don't know for sure, because I use the 1024x768 even if I plan to switch to the 1370x768 some time in the future (I play on a laptop with a native resolution of 1366x768).

But let's see...
1024/768 = 1.333... aspect ratio.
1360/768 = 1.7708... aspect ratio.
1280/1024 = 1.25 aspect ratio..

So, the 1360x768 (1.77) is good for 16/9 monitors (16/9 = 1.77) like mine (I have 1366x768 native resolution, I'm on a laptop).

The "native" SHIII resolution is (was) for 4/3 screens (4/3 = 1.33) and your native resolution 1280/1024 gives an aspect ration of 1.25, close enough to the 4/3 aspect ratio, but probably you will suffer some distortion...
In your case, the optimal resolution should be 1280x960 because 1280/960 = 1.33333 excatly the same aspect ratio of the 1024x768 version.

So, if you use the 1024x768 version you should be able to experience no distortion at all even if you will see two black borders, above and below the game frame. In essence I think you should go with 1024x768 version, but I really don't know for sure

If your graphics card is similar to my nVidia 540M, then you will need to change the resolution (in the .dll file) to 1366x768. Specifiying 1360x768 causes a CTD on startup. Since this is only a 0.4% difference, it looks fine at 1366x768.

With a 5:4 aspect ratio, it's not clear that any of the hi-rez fixes will work at all. But it is easy enough to find out, and there is never any permanent harm done. Might as well experiment. Finding out what works for you is usually far more productive than reading what someone else did.

Thanks for the directions, everyone!
I installed it and it works OK. The only thing I dislike in this mod is that icon bar which is used to navigate between the stations inside U-Boot. I mean the one that used to pop-up on the left and now it is in the bottom, concealed beneath the text messages panel, until you get the cursor there from below. Not too convenient Any way to move the text panel some place else?

Mmmm... I didn't know that.

I assumed my video card would be able to display the 1360 pixel while placing two black vertical bars of 3 pixel width on both the left and right size of the screen... because my monitor have enough resolution to display the 1360x768 "game viewport"...
Exactley as it currently does to diplay the 1024x768 game viewport...

In any case I have no idea how to change the resolution in the .dll file, I assume is not as easy as editing a text file, right?

Btw my Asus laptop have an old nVidia GeForce G102M.
Thank you for the info.

Uff da! I misspoke. You don't have to change the .dll. You just change the accompanying d3d9.ini, which is a text file:

(this is from Widescreen MaGUI, but the others are similar)

[GLOBAL]
DebugLog=false

[ENGINE]
DisplayWidth=1366
DisplayHeight=768
Refreshrate=false
[LOADSCREENS]
tx=0.01635
ty=0.0
sx=0.0
sy=0.00
maxscale=true

[EFFECTS]
Ocean=false

That's it!

BTW, I didn't know it either! I never found anything , anywhere that mentions this important fact. But when I tried to use 1360, it CTDed with a "failed to initialize" message. Looked at my nVidia card, saw that there was no option for 1360, but there was one for 1366. So I figured: "It's not working anyway. Nothing to lose" and tried 1366. Worked fine.

Sometimes you just gotta poke at these things.
