Default FOTRSU Install advice

I encountered a catastrophic failure on my Steam SH4 which was on a separate drive. So I've found a SH4 Gold Edition on disc and installed as Rockin Robbins rec in a root directory to use the FOTRSU mod.

In the support folder there's JSGME and LAA which are already installed (I don't want the MultiUser sh4). But there's also FOTRSU original and FOTRSU 2.0.

I know I don't need anything that's in the "EXTRAS" folder.

Then the "data" folder seems to have all the game files.

Is the "data" folder the only one I need to place in the "MODS" folder for SH4? Or do I need to do something with the FOTRSU original and FOTRSU 2.0?

Or just put the entire "100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v0.63_PublicBeta_ EN" folder into the MODS folder and activate with JSGME

Thanks in advance!!

Just put the FOTRSU 0.63 folder in the Mods folder for the JSGME. Install from there. Don't start with the data folder.

Thanks so much. I was afraid of having multiples of some things in there.

I appreciate it.

Okay, I've got FOTRSU up and running and it is GREAT!!!

It is the ONLY mod I have in the mods folder or activated.

I have two graphics problems though.
1) there is a black figure up and to the right of the conning tower. (looks like a parachute
2) the fire and smoke after a kill is very chunky and blocky. Looks like old atari graphics

I have a hoss alienware machine and graphics are set to "high" in-game. Any idea how to fix this?

Also - will other mods run on top of FOTRSU? Are there any i should avoid?

Thanks

What kind of graphics card are you currently running?

Under Display Adaptors I see these:

Intel(R) HD Graphics 530
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080

Is your computer a desktop or a laptop? I'm just guessing it is a desktop. Just off the top of my head I'd say that the Intel 530 is onboard graphics and the 1080 GTX is not. The graphic problems you've described leads me to believe that you're running the Intel 530. Switch to the 1080 and all should be well. The 1080 GTX is probably the best graphics card on the planet at the moment.

It is an Alienware Laptop

How do I "switch" or choose which one the game is using?

Everything looks awesome except fire and smoke after explosion. really weird

I have "in game" graphics set to "high"

Well, usually it's just a matter of disabling the Intel 530 and then running off the 1080 GTX. But with your laptop I'm on unfamiliar territory. What is the model number of your laptop?

OK, after a quick Google search, I'm guessing it's the Alienware 17, am I correct?

OK, I've looked at 5 or 6 different reviews of your laptop and could only find reference to Intel graphics. As I mentioned earlier I'm unfamiliar with the laptops as I use a desktop. I don't want to give you wrong info and have something happen that would mess things up for you. So I'll stop here.

What resolution and refresh rate are you trying to play at? Depending on what refresh rate you're playing at could make a difference. SH4 usually plays best at 60 hz.

Bingo!!!!!!!!!!!

As I've learned in getting SH4 to work with win10, there are TWO places you have to edit for screen resolution.

I've run into this before. Though I HAD SET THEM CORRECTLY to:
1600,900,120,22

The main in the Wolves of the Pacific folder remained that. However, the "main" under the documents SH4 folder had reset itself to:
1280,768,60,22

I changed this one back to match and it all cleared up. frustrating how they continue to "change"

Thank for all the help
