Default Torpedo Launch

I have been playing the SCS Campaign and I noticed that torpedoes get launched from...where?

It seems my sonar guy could get an initial bearing to report. "Launch! probable torpedo, bearing XXX, unknown range".

A Skipper has to "see" the battlefield and be aware of any changes.

If I remember correctly from my days sitting at broadband (striker, then STS, then ETR for those following my career path at home) any transient would be report to the Sonar Sup who would in turn report it to the Conn.

Well, if your sonar shack picks up the transient, they do report something like "Launch transient from Sierra 1." It would be nice if they gave you a bearing on the "Torpedo in the Water" call though, or even if they gave that call when the torpedo is first detected, rather then when it goes active. More often then not, I can see the enemy fish on the nav map way before Sonar reports it.

For that matter the sonar report system needs some work. For example, when you hit a target that is no longer being held on sonar, in game the sonar operator reports reestablishing contact with the target and simultaneously reports loss of the contact with breakup noises. That just seems redundant. I'm no sonar wiz, but shouldn't that be reported as "Loud explosion on the bearing of Sierra One," or something like that?

It just seems realistic. As the Skipper, I hear that sonar bearing report and I am processing it all in my head in relation to my "vision".

Even hearing reports of sonar contacts changing heading and speed is valuable.

The Sonar Shack needs a manager. (Where the #$%^& is my XO!!!)

P.S. I also think it will bring more game immersion to the player who is in the Control Room.
