Submarine Location Indicator on Map

So, I've been toying with the idea of a fully manual navigation career, and was hoping to find the submarine indicator that shows up on the map and replace it with a transparent or less than obvious graphic file. Would anyone know where I can find the icon? Has anyone tried this before?

I can't find it right now, but there is a "Real Navigation" mod for SH4 somewhere in the Downloads section. I do not remember how old it is though, and whether it would run in v1.5 of the game or not... But all of the fancy "artwork" of the NavMap is already removed for you, and it would be easy enough to see what they did in the mod for that... but to find it...
