Support How to create a 30 km environment?

Hi,

I would like to create a 30 km atmosphere environment. But when I resize the 3D model of the sky, clouds and fog, the sky is black in game. Do you know why ?

at past, i had created some larger 3d models (more than 30km) for experimental reasons on sh3's engine. the engine is working just fine to even more than 30km (ships are rendering and player can spot them).
i saw the problem with the black sky there and i am suspecting that the responsible value for that is the Y value at scene.dat/envdata/cameras.
Try finding out the value that you must set there and i believe that will do the trick

Mmh ... a lot of tests and fails seem to be necessary to reach a working solution .... again ...

Can you maybe use a sky dome of 20kms that does not go down to the sea level and then use the fog dome curve upwards to bridge the gap but at 30 kms? Theoretically that should allow you to see sips on the horizon against the fog and below the sky dome, though you would not notice that the dome does not reach to the sea surface.

Yes I see ... but the airplanes that are more than 20 km away will be hidden by the sky texture ... but this is not a problem for me, we never shoot airplanes at 25 km !

Thanks for the idea !

I don't think you can actually see an aicraft 20 kms way, they are too small
