Default Increasing ship range.

Hello subsimmers.

While the Vittorio Veneto makes for a great commerce raider, the ranged leaves a lot to be desired. It's evident that it was designed for medium range operations in the med. I'm a novice when it comes to modding, but clearly the range has to be in some cfg file. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you .

hey Archer7,

welcome to silent hunter 4 and subsim.
if you want to change the range of a ship or a submarine, you must modify the shipname.SIM file located in SH4\data\Sea\shipnamefolder or SH4\data\Sea\subnamefolder, respectively.

if you are not familiar with the utility Silent 3ditor, you can find it in the Downloads forum here in Subsim. use that to make changes to SIM, ZON, etc.

a word of caution when changing game files: make a copy first and then change the file or use JSGME and create a MOD folder and put a copy of the folder-file in there and modify that copy and then enable it with JSGME.

good luck

mb

have you found it yet? i gave you some time to poke around because it is a good experience for someone who appears to want to delve into things a bit more deeply.

Yes, I figured it out, but only after posting the screenshot. Thanks for still hanging around the halls here. Next I'm going to increase the underwater range of the Zwaardfisch.

excellent. learning is best when one struggles a bit, nicht war?

i am unfamiliar with that one (zwaardfisch). is that a nickname for a sub or a ship or a weapon?

Jawohl, Not macht erfinderich.

It's a mod for a postwar Dutch sub. It's post war but non nuclear so you get that modern look, but still have to juggle the diesel and the batteries.
