I run 1.5 without any mods. My comp exceeds the recomended reqs.
game plays great, just when i lift an officer to replace another i CTD !!( in the crew asignment screen.
all else is ok, but it wont allow me to hire any officers or ncos in addition to the ones I started with. I heard others have many, but i can not exceed the initial #.

I had that problem when I had an ATI X1900XTX AGP card ( ANY DRIVER VERSION ). Only in the crew quarters it would CTD! If I defraded my drive an rebooted I could get by by starting the game, get the crew I wanted, left the game then reboot the system then play the game, it would work.

I usualy defrag my system daily.... an only after a fresh defrag could I change crew members.

I then moved back to Nvidia an have NO problems...

Have you installed any service packs lately? Because my PC suddenly crashed alot after installing Service pack 3 for Win XP, but yesterday I downloaded the latest ATI Catalyst 8.5 for Win XP SP3 and now everything runs fine (I allmost trew my graphics card out of the window, because of the anoying CTD's... )

Hi Kriller2

I've heard horror stories about SP3 for XP so i think i'll decline using it for the time being.

Lots of CTDs reported when running memory intensive apps and also rebooting for no aparent reason...

Glad you got yours running ok!

Yes, PC Pitstop recommends not installing sp3 until it's fixed. In my case it would prevent my Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard from even booting unless I plugged in a flash drive before turning on the machine. No thanks, I'll wait.

i have a nvidia geforce 7300 le,, whatever that means, 2.13 ghz duel core and 2 gb ram.. i dont know alot, forgive me. i ran a check for the ability to use the game and i exceeded the reqs. I only CTD in the crew area when moving them. Also, how do you open the "dds" files to change the max# of officers? windows says it dont know how and "7zip" cannot extract the file ??

thanks in advance
