radar Sonar Range Finding

Ahoy everyone!

After many years , I decided it was time again to start punching holes in the water.

I loaded up SH4 and for simplicity means, added 'TheBerbsters All In One Mega Mod 221117' to get some mods in place (tried the vanilla version ). JSME install was just as I remember, game runs great.

I have been working on brushing up on my tactics and firing procedures.

Yesterday, I have been re-familiarizing myself on the 'Dick O'kane Attack Method.' One of the procedures for setting up the attach is using Sonar and the range finder next to it. Upon using the range finder, especially for distances under 4k, when you send the range to the TDC, it picks up the signal sent and the TDC updates. But, I noticed for ranges over 4k, it wont register any updates at the TDC. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? I have tried raising my attack scope just slightly out of secured status, tried on surface and submerged at PD for a 'cleaner' reading. Still no results.

Not getting the distance is making my approaches difficult setting up.

There is an older YouTube video by RockinRobins13 of which he explains the procedure and uses the range finder to get confirmed distances over 4k and registers at the TDC.

Im currently stationed on a Porpoise Class Boat, on my 3rd Patrol; Dated March 1942. Previous Boat was Salmon Class.

I dont have radar yet , but in due time I will.

Thanks!
