My first kill with the SPAD VII!

Showing my commander I'm okay! (Moments later I was spinning out of control until I hit the ground with a tremendous force...the SPAD VII can be a real deathtrap)

You're telling me.

So, first time with Rise of Flight. I boot her up, select the default Spad and jump into a quick dogfight, just to see how it goes.

Yes, this is a familiar sight, the mad break and scramble for advantage, what's that grey thing on my righ-BLAM

Got my first kill!

(I've since learnt how to remove all the clutter)

Heheh, the first dogfights I had tended to end up like that!

Collisions are reasonably common in this game, making it so much more nervwrecking when you enter a real furball!

The typical results of a rapid execution of the Raptor Maneuvre: Heavily damaged aircraft nosed over in the middle of nowhere. In the background are two Jerries which were kind enough not to strafe me.

Arclight tangles with some Jerries.

The failed form of landing is presented by Task Force to the left, while the correct one is displayed by myself to the right.

Two dishes of cooked Albatros with a side of Fokker, please.

Arclight displays his flying slow and steady skills...

...which I do not posses...

I forgot how much torque these rotary engines have.

Warming up for departure

Raptor breaks his engine and returns to base in a rather permanent manner.

Oberon encounters an enemy bi-plane, is wounded by the first shot and manages to land behind friendly lines.

Task Force on the other hand decides to land in no mans land...

Arclight strafes the enemy airfield and returns to base.

And with a nice dodge between two hangars, parks up safely.

Quite enjoying it, and flying full realism.

Kinda blurry since someone busted a cap in my bottom a little earlier, but you can kinda see a speck with a white exhaust trail chasing another speck, which would be Oberon chasing his kill, and another speck in a field just off the edge of the wing, which would be Raptor.

It's much better than I expected, actually. Anyway...

What is this, a coordinated take-off? Back to flight school!

One sabotaged engine later, while Oberon tried to kill a Nieuport in the background.

I believe it's on high realism, radiators, not sure about auto-mixture because the Albatros D.V doesn't have mixture apparently.

I'm quite enjoying it, it feels a lot like putting on an old pair of gloves not worn since OFF was free (Phase 2 IIRC), however the handling is certainly a par above OFF at that phase, the Albatros is a much more forgiving aircraft than the Spad.

Multiplayer is beautiful, no warping, no major lag, everything ran just lovely.

The only gripe I have is the view panning, but that has been fixed with Newview, which I'm going to have to tweak because I don't like the blind spot at about 170 to 200 degrees behind me...I just know it's going to hide an SE.5 one day.

Some screenshots from the second mission, including my first kill!

Must resist urge to fire at long range...Must remember Dicta Boelcke

Photographic evidence, they can't say 'probable' to me now!

'Probable' landing though...
