Default FSX traffic

My add-on airports seem awfully empty. They all came with AFD data files and static aircraft, I'd prefer to use AFD.

The problem is my stock FSX traffic doesn't have airlines such as AA/Delta/KLM/etc so these planes aren't parked in their respective spots at my airports. Is there a light traffic mod that just adds these companies to the AI planes, or even a way to do it yourself?

I hit mostly 13-25 fps, from what I hear most standard traffic addons greatly reduce your FPS, any suggestions? Should I just give up and install static aircraft?

I'm a fan of World of AI http://www.world-of-ai.com/

I usually fly w/o traffic or on vatsim though.

How heavy is World of AI on your fps?

AI traffic isn't actually very heavy on system resources as long as you have it at reasonable levels (which depend on how much custom traffic you actually install). If you're worried, you can always set a very low AI% traffic and work your way up. The main thing about AI traffic that I find reduces FPS is actually the quality of the AI plane models. However as far as I can remember, World of AI planes are generally fairly low poly.

I used to use World of AI for FS9, and I can only say good things about it - it's actually somewhat better than similar payware add-ons in the sense that it's more customizable and a little more detailed. The downside to it, of course, is that it takes a lot of time to download and install all the airlines, and you still end up with gaps. I used to run it on my old PC, but when I had to rebuild my FS9 config, I decided that this was going to be simply too much work and paid for Traffic2005, which I'm also quite happy with.

At least with my FS9, the main reason I turn down traffic is not because it gives me a performance hit, but because past a certain point many airports get impossible to navigate. And I don't even have a very powerful PC.

Can you give me your specs, and your FPS with traffic and without?

I installed several airlines with World of AI. When they're parked at the gate they're fine, but when they start taxing and taking off they're missing textures. Just white.

This might help: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=185522

Missing textures generally indicate the application is hitting a memory barrier, to the best of my knowledge at least.

(though it might be a more specific issue, just offering an option)

After posting, I realized I had the same issue with Flight 1's ATR, the issue is the lack of DX10 support, switching back to DX9 fixed the issue. Although I may have to try the link you sent to see if I can get more FPS out of FSX

If you don't need to I'd leave it alone. It's not a performance tweak really, more something one would try for stability and/or resolving an issue.
