Default Good trick for the Quick Missions

Here is a good trick example for Quick Missions, i have used it several times in Battle of Samar. At first hit the first coming Kongo Battleship and Yamato at the same time with your torpedos so that Kongo sinks (takes 3 torpedos), and Yamato engines stops but it dosen't sink (usually with 6 torpedos). Then dive run fast very near by Yamato, to the other side of the ship than side you have just hit with torpedos. The ship is floating atilt the hitted side down so that guns of the ship are not able to hit you in the other side. Now you can come up and other fighters etc. can't shoot you becourse of the Yamato behinde your submarine, but you can hit them with all your guns. Sink the fighters all becourse they are going around of Yamato and after that dive enough far from Yamato and sink it in peace with your torpedos and you are the winner of the battle again !

Default Holy cow!

I wonder how much chance that would have in real life? How many ships are you sinking with your deck gun?

In real life it should take at least 200 shots and over an hour to sink each small enemy ship. Machine gun fire from enemy combatants would not be held because it would be harmless to the Yamato. However you would not be able to man your deck gun. You would then be boarded and blown up or all captured.

Those of us who play as simulation aren't impressed. Those of us who play for the sheer gaming excitement applaud your inventiveness!

I've actually done something similar, though in-game.

I happened upon a HUGE taskforce in the China Sea, with the Yamato, some other BBs, a bunch of heavy cruisers, and a dozen or so destroyers.

I let loose a 6-torpedo volley, taking out a BB in one shot (nailed the magazine stores), crippling another one (took out all props and rudders), with the remaining torps nailing the Yamato, stopping her dead in the water.

The DDs, of course, were looking for me, but since I had fired so close to the taskforce (something like 1000m), I was able to move at flank speed underwater and end up, funny enough, directly under the Yamato. I wasn't able to get the entire sub under her, since I had come in at an angle, but the DDs were rendered useless. I shut off my engines, went all silent, and watched as the DDs went nuts trying to find me.
