Default Identifying ships

Hi all,

I'm playing on full realism and starting to improve at using ranging and bearing to figure out speed / course...But I have a real problem identifying ships. So many of them look very similar with minor differences, and poor lighting conditions / staying hidden makes things even harder.

Does anyone have advice for this?

Thanks

You have 2 options:

You play hyper-realistic and use the Recognition Manual every time (type E and drag it from the left), take especially note about the Draft to set the torpedo depth. From there you can send Stadimeter Data to TDC to get the Range.

A faster method - but still realistic because you don't gain important solution data for free is:
Load the optional TWoS mod 'TWoS UI cmd_Radio Reports_Auto Target ID'.
It works like this:
- You lock target with Space;
- you ask Weapon officer > 1st icon on the left > then again 1st icon on the left.
This will identify target if you remain in Manual TDC.

Good thing is to combine the 2nd and 1st method, identify ship with WO then browse the recon manual fast to find ship, send stadimeter data to TDC.

Nice hunting,
