Default how to select a target

I have been playing SH4 for many years, using manual TDC , and have never figured out how to "select" a target. I would like to have the radar or sonar man send bearing and range to the TDC once in a while but have never been able to do it. Can someone let me in on the secret as to how its done?
Thanks!

Hello Joe S,

after You received info from sonar officer about the target bearing go and put this info in the sonar, then make a single sweep. Then select "send range to TDC" and "send target bearing to TDC" from the sonar command panel below - this way You will have your target "selected". However, You need to accurately locate the target on proper bearing.
I used this method in the sonar only attack technique.

I hope this helps.
