Default Making other nations playable

What do I have to change in the files to make a nation's platforms playable. I am considering a campaign, but it requires Iran and its Kilos to be playable. Also, once I make the changes, would I be correct in assuming that if I want others to play the campaign, they would need the necessary patches?

I have no clue. I use LWAMI. I have some theories I want to test and I need Iran playable to test them, hence my question.
