Wouldn't it be good to get Med-based camo U-boat skins and even crew outfits when in 23/29th Flotilla?

How about clothing and camo fit for the Arctic (including ice) when in 11th Flotilla?

Feeling tropical? Wouldn't nice summery outfits look a treat when in the Indian (10th) or Sth Atlantic (10th or 12th)?

There's no need to just think date-based changes - SH3Cmdr can support a wide variety of concepts.

But if one was to think date-based, one option would be to follow Allgemeinen Baubestimmungen (Building Regulations Order) Nr. 31 (November 1941 and July 1944). Doing so could see a shift from Dunkelgrau 51 to Hellgrau 50 early in the war through to camo skins and back to Dunkelgrau 51 later in the war (generally speaking of course, as there were countless variations and combinations).
Wow.... This man has great ideas.

Yes, this is what I was thinking as well. The general changes with time would not be difficult at all, it is the difference between flotillas that would take more work but also be more interesting. It sounds like there is some interest in this, now to see if Fubar is interested in making some more skins. :hmm:

I think it's going to be hard to make all skins looking different.... But Fubar is great, and will be able to do it probably. :hmm:

Here are a few more screenshots from the GWX Skin Pack.

The first one shows a Town Class DD painted in a 1940 dazzle scheme based on a photograph of HMS Hamilton. This was one of the earliest camo schemes used in WWII and is very similiar to the dazzle schemes used during WWI.

The next one shows another Town Class DD painted in a 1942 disruptive scheme based on a photograph of HMS Broadway.

The last one shows the HMS Duke of York in the disruptive scheme she wore during 1942.

I don't use GWX, so won't be able to benefit, but I just wanted to say what beautiful paint schemes you've created! The screenies look stunning!

Great job.

Thanks! Even if you don't use GWX you can still copy the skins you like into your ship folders. You won't get the changes through time but you will at least get some new skins. However, most of the capital ships are not multiskinned so you would need to extract the texture from the dat file.

Default GWX Skin Pack and

Actually, if the non-GWX user has the multi-skin ship pack by UBOAT234, then pretty much all warships will be multi-skin capable with a few exceptions (Elco and Vorpostenboot do not work correctly, and Fletcher class DD, Vosper, and RAF Launch not done). You can find a link to his FileFront page on my own FileFront page, which is in my signature.

Guys,
I am confused:hmm: I downloaded the GWX skin pack 164 mb from the GW Expansion page. It was a single data folder 1.57 gb full of folders with different dates on them.:hmm: And replaced the Data Folder in SH3 Commander. Is this the same skin mod this topic is talking about?
Something about 4 folders over 500 mb.? Is this the same ship skin mod that changes skins as the dates change.
Or do I have some other skin mod. The readme look's the same but it says the mod is over 500 mb:hmm:
Thank's for any Info. I have been away from SH3 for over a year.

Lane,
You have the right file. The skin pack comes in 2 forms. As one file(which is the one you downloaded) OR as four seperate files (One for capital ships, escorts, destroyers and merchants). Content is supposed to be the same (see post 37 in this thread). Not sure why the single file version is so much smaller, but assume a different level of compression was used.

Only difference between the two is that the four individual files have a "GWX Skin Pack" folder with the "date" folder under it (making it more JSGME friendly to use with SH3 Commander), while the single file version just has the "date" folder (Easy enough to copy it as a subfolder into some other folder and make it JSGME friendly).

Thank's Steppenwolf,
That explains it. Glad I got the right one. I wish I had known that I could have installed it with the Jones installer. but that's ok I guess it's just for ship skins I could still install some good sub skins My Boat is a V11b at this time.
Thank's

Just to reiterate, you can actually put JSGME into SH3 Cmdr and have a separate MODS folder located there, it's very easy to enable/disable mods created for Cmdr this way & (touch wood) very hard to mess up your SH3 Cmdr.

Yes the single d/l has a higher compression ratio. I would, however, suggest that if you are wanting to pick and choose which skins you want for anything other than GWX that you d/l the multi-part version.
