Change your wave height back to 256 and you won't have sinking ship issues. You can't build a ship sailing behavior ingame based on 256 wave amplitude and than change it to 320 and ask it to work.

Besides, 256 is much more realistic.

Thomsen!!

I must beg to differ! With my adjustments, you can get the ships to behave in an acceptable manner in higher than stock wave-heights. True, my mod is mainly for those who wish to use SH3 Commander to alter the wave-heights to "seasonal" or "2X" stock. If you are not using that feature, you probably don't need this mod.

As far as which is more realistic, I guess that is a matter of taste. :p Myself, I like to give players the option! Use it if you wish, if not, your choice.

Well, if you look at the ocean you'll see that there's a zillion of small waves, while on SH3 there's a lot of big waves, filling the same space. I've tryed to make a real ocean on SH3, it's possible, but requires and incredible machine to process all those small waves, so it's good looking but not playable...

Hmm... I don't use that SH3C feature... but I do notice ships sometimes sinking from the weather in GWX. At least, they make that whining sound, so I assume they're (slowly) sinking. This mod will fix that, right?

That's exactly why I developed the mod, to get rid of that whining sound which seems to be an indication that the ship is slowly sinking! Indeed, I used the mission editor to test "convoys" of different ship-types, looking for those ships that emitted that whining sound. Almost inevitably, any ship making that noise will eventually sink. So, I started tweaking and ended up with my sinking ship fix. So far, I have only tested merchants and one or two military types like the LST.

Thanks for reminding me that some ships sink without player intervention even at stock settings. Although I made my changes so the ships would not sink even with the wave-heights set to 2X via SH3 Commander, the ships seem to work just as well at stock settings. So, I think you can use the mod with either stock or altered settings via SH3 Commander.

If using the mod at stock settings, one possible problem might be ships that seem harder than normal to sink. I, however, have not personally observed this potential problem.

Sounds good. I wondered whether ships would be harder to sink, but even if that's the case its better than ships sinking on their own. Cheers.

Yes, I have wait for it a long time!
It's very useful mod! Sometimes weather conditions supports attack and your mod make it possible!
Bye, bye vale of tears after torpedoed "uncreditable" ships!

While tracking a convoy last night i spotted HMT Aquitania. After
the convoy had passed the ship was right in front of me, immobilized
and about to sink. I wasted no time and torpedoed her. The weather
conditions were very good: no clouds, no rain, visibility 16km and
wind speed 8 knots!
There were no reports for Uboats in the area. I wonder if such
a ship (47000 tons or so) can be sunk due to weather in SH3 world.
Still, 8 knots wind speed should be manageable for HMT Aquitania.
Even an 8000 tons ship shouldn't have any problem at such weather
but it doesn't seem to be this way.
I'm thinking loud here but, anyway, thanks for this mod Subtype Zero,
it seems i'm gonna need it.

Tomfon--
Were you using my mod? If not, Aquitania is one of the ships that I have worked on to try and make less sinkable by wave action alone.

Note that if you use any ship mods other than stock or GWX (von Dos, for example), you need to apply my mod after you have applied their ship mod to get it to work properly.

No, i wasn't using your mod Subtype Zero. Not at all. I installed it
yesterday after the "Aquitania" incident i described above.

I had your mod downloaded before i decided to install it.
After sinking Aquitania i remembered that you included a fix for
her in the last version. This is how i started thinking seriously
about installing it.
