Default Making changes to map tools

Ahoy captains! I would like to change the map tools to read yards instead of nautical miles when drawing a line or circle. I've looked in the downloads and searched the forums on how to do this but, without any success. Can someone point me in right direction on what it would take? Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm not sure, but don't you change that in the OPTIONS panel in the office? In game play settings there's Authentic, Imperial and something else.

That is a good idea. Maybe in the menu.ini?

The other one is metric (i.e. the one that makes sense ).

Icon9 Thanks for your reply's Captains

On my current patrol, the setting in measurement units is 'Authentic'. So I started a new career to see if changing measurement units to 'Imperial' would change the compass or ruler from reading pass 4.9 nautical miles to 10,000 yards. And when extending the map tool passed the point where it changes to nautical miles if the map tool would continue to display yards. No joy. The ruler changed to nautical miles. But thanks for your suggestions.

Now, why is it you want yards instead of nautical miles. It's easy peasy to change the settings in your head for close enough work. Just multiply nautical miles by 2000 for yards. When you're within a nautical mile it's good enough for targeting. That's what the real sub skippers did.

So 4.3 nautical miles is (I'm waving my hand here and saying "ehhhhhhh!") 8600 yards. You can do that standing on your head!

Must be in one of those mods, in stock 1.4 I get yards until 10,000 then it switches to nautical miles.

Just remember: hold your hand out flat and horizontal. Oscillate it quickly, repeatedly rotating at the wrist as you say "Ehhhhhhhhhhh!" in a kind of wavering, high sing-songy voice. That's the key to making it easy.
