SHO Hello, Everyone...Maiden voyage here

I joined up yesterday and am looking for my rum ration.

I can claim to be one of the initial players of the first version of Silent Hunter.... way, way back. Enjoyed it. Then work, family, and other interests took me away for a long time. On chance, SH4 came to my attention so I downloaded and installed to see how my old interest had matured. Well, I think! Version 1.5 running on Windows 10 with AMD Radeon HG 8790M and Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600. Worked just fine out of the box.

I can see that the Subsim group has been very busy! To get me started, perhaps your collective wisdom might suggest three or so "must have" downloads that provide fixes and enhancements to the game? From running train simulator games I have had experience with downloading and adding modifications and additions - and even making mods and additions of my own. Trains and submarines... I like things that are big and ponderous- rather like me. No jet fighters need apply. Right now my knowledge of SH4 is running on the surface; I'd like to go deeper

Thanks in advance for your help,

Eric

Welcome to SubSim Eric.

Steed is in charge of the rum ration which is why there is no rum.

Welcome to Subsim, Eric, and a mighty big Texas thank you for the whopping support. I think the best place to ask the question is the SH4 Mods forum, I know that Fall of the Rising Sun is one of the most popular comprehensive mods. ALso check out Real Fleet Boat and Trigger Maru.

Some good stuff to amp up the vanilla game are
Webster's New Orders Bar Menu for v1.5
Game Fixes Only Mod v1.1
Navigation Map Make-Over Version 2.1
and Environmental 5.0,
