^ was difficult to differentiate the two so at £1 cheaper for the four, I'd say the Church's was slightly better value for money.

I just had a bottle of black sheep... yes, it's redder and darker than Golden Sheep... not as strong and with a maltier flavour as you'd expect. But I prefer stronger lighter ales nowadays, so it would be Golden Sheep for me.

I'm off after tonight for whatever remains of the bank holiday weekend and have restocked the brewery/garage storage area with a fitting selection of Badger Brewery ales.

Went over to the north side of the river last night to pick the wife up from work and noticed these were on offer so picked up a case and must say they tasted very nice (can't say for sure if I've had this one before).

Quote:
A heady mix of Wold grown Barley, Wheat and Cara malt hopped with Goldings and Styrian hops give the beer
its soft, fruity flavour with a hint of spice. This is the beer to drink whilst
basking in the sun on bank holidays or any days!

(Beer and curry….. this is the one!)
Funnily enough we had a Chinese curry last night and tonight we will be having a pre-planned Indian so I'll be trying the remaining bottles with that.

Default Elgood's "Warrior"

ABV 5.5%, only £1.29 from ALDI Stores

Much is made of the "Generous portions of English hop varieties" but I didn't really get much 'hoppiness' nonethelesss. It was indeed very bitter... too bitter for my taste really, but then that's just me. Not one I'll get again

Had this on tap last weekend

A big, very big, bad boy, motor oil goodness. Kinda like a blend of Cervisiam's Salty Christmas Balls and Kinn's Svartekunst, so many flavours it could confuse any cat. A sipper definitely, one for the winter nights but hey it worked as a dessert in the summer afternoon too.

Default Robinsons 'Unicorn' Premium Golden Ale

4.3% ABV and just £1.29 from ALDI Stores.

Lighter and less bitter than the 'Warrior' ale but again... not particularly hoppy, despite what's said on the label. Just a decent, golden ale but nothing outstanding to my taste buds.

But there is a "Robinsons Brewery 180th Anniversary" Prize Draw here with the chance to win a flight in a Spitfire, so it will turn out to be a very good drink for one lucky punter.

This hard seltzer is less filling than beer and features the taste of black cherry to make it even more refreshing.

Default Wold Top "Scarbotough Fair IPA"

Might have done this already, I don't know.

£1.83 from ASDA, 6% ABV

One of the nicest IPAs I've tasted so far.... very hoppy, clear and refreshing, with a subtle honeyed flavour. Recommended

Unwittingly came across what could easily be turned into a bit of a scam if you tour the local ASDA stores in your area.

Out shopping with the wife the other day and as we were walking along the craft ales isle I decided to replenish some of my stocks.

I picked up four bottles of Wold Gold and a mix of four Badger Brewery ales, (Firkin Fox, Hopping Hare, Fursty Ferret and Golden Champion). All had identical tickets on them stating the individula prices and the fact four could be had for £6.

Took the shopping trolley to the checkout and the wife paid for her grocery shop and I put the beer through separately.

The Wold Gold went through correctly at £6 for four but the four differing Badger brews went through at £6.60 making a combined total of £12,60 instead of what should have been £12.

The wife works for M&S and is more savvy about these things than me and without making a fuss, she politely told the cashier that all the brews had identical ticket prices for purchases of four bottles therefore under current trading standards regulations the goods should be sold at the price they are marked at. By this time I had already swiped my contactless card therefore paying.

The cashier understood and put the bottles through again but the outcome was the same result so they gave me £2.00 of vouchers by way of an apology and asked me to go to the Customer Services counter where the matter should be rectified to my satisfaction.

Upon arrival and after the usual scanning of goods the same result was the outcome so the staff member asked me if I would take them to said aisle and they would check the tickets. Two minutes later a further apology was issued and a further £2.00 voucher was given.

This means I've £4 off my next replenishment mission and the lesson learned....computerised systems can and sometimes will get it wrong.

Just don't keep going back to the same store or suspicions will be aroused
