Support SH3 Cleaner 6.0 for DVD Edition [XP, Vista, Win7, Win8.1, Win10]

This little tool is an update of the SH3 Cleaner 5.0 for DVD Edition.

It's useful if you get trouble to reinstall SH3 or if you missed to do a backup of the vanilla SH3 installation and now you want to install additional copies of SH3 for other big mods like GWX, NYGM, LSHIII, CCoM etc.

Nearly all unnecessary registry entries, folders and files done by the InstallShield Wizard [on EMEA & US DVD] during installation are removed [usually these registry entries prevent additional SH3 installations from DVD; however all these files and entries have no bearing on gameplay in any way]. Installation folder and save game folder of SH3 are not affected!
Starforce will be removed as well.

For proper achievement you've to execute it with admin rights!
-> right click 'Run as admin' -> this window appears:

Follow the text, then press any key to open the next window:

Don't close this window and wait until the job is done [-> automatic system reboot].

Exclamation Heads Up

My antivirus software, Hitman Pro 3.7, just scanned and says this SH3 Cleaner 6.0-english.exe is a Trojan. And wants to delete it. Anyone else seeing this?

I selected Ignore for now and reported it as Safe. More than likely the next scan will still report it as a Trojan. More info needed on why this happened and what to do.

I can and did set Hitman Pro to Not scan potentially unwanted programs. If what I download and want, especially mods for SH3 and SH5, then I want Hitman to leave them alone. They are not potentially unwanted.

Besides SH3 Cleaner 5.0, it' has deleted Irfranview, and a couple of mods for SH3 and 5. Plus a couple of .exes I wanted that I know are safe. My tech guy at my local Microsoft Store that recommended Hitman Pro is going to get an earful.... real soon.

It is because the upload site SSB used packs the download with a couple of crapware programs, like a few other download sites do. I understand why they do it, to help pay the site bills, but I wish they wouldn't. It took me an hour to get all the crap off my system, and I was being careful when I tried to download, and I still ended up not getting the download.

A lot of downloads have crap in them. I missed a couple that I should have unchecked last night that are causing me problems now. Tho I think I've got things sorted out.

I think the problem with SH3 Cleaner 5.0 and 6.0 has to do with Certificates. Hitman Pro looks for these and if they've expired or are non existent it flags them as a Virus of Trojan. I'd go with Panda but that's way too expensive for me.

I wish they would upload it here instead, or at MediaFire, no crapware there.

Hi,

for those who got problems with the download from SSB's site - have a look at (Maik's) Plissken04's FTP-server. Here you find the actual versions. But don't forget Username and Password.

Greetings

Hi HW3,

Maik is a very fast guy. Mostly he put new mods/tools/tuts within one day on his FTP server. Thanks Maik.

Greetings

Sorry to read about your inconveniences.

I don't think that the file hoster is the problem. I just checked the site on virustotal and it's reported as clean. To be sure after download, compare file size or better md5 checksum to those in first post. They must not differ!

The real problem are some antivirus proggies which report the cleaner as malware/trojan/virus etc. But this is not true. These alerts are so called 'false positives'.

I can assure you that the SH3 Cleaner does not content any malware/trojans/viruses etc.

If there's coming up an alert from your antivirus app you've to temporarily shut it down during download and execution and/or put it to the exception/ignore list of your av program.

There's nothing I can do against these troubles at the moment...
