Red Two - 84 Squadron - RAF Martlesham

Scrambled to intercept 111's off Harwich, followed the Stour out to the Estuary and turned south. Met the convoy just in time to witness the 111s start bombing it. Dived in, then promptly lost them in the clouds. Red Leader hit one, smoked its starboard engine. Moved in to finish off the left and collided.

Red Two turns to turn in behind the He-111s

Gun sight image from Red Two shortly before ramming the pictured He-111 (pressing Print Screen so close behind a Heinkel is not recommended...)

Collided with He-111 in Thames Estuary

Pilots Notes:
Do not play chicken with He-111s...

And Task Force being...well...Task Force

14th July 1940

Luftwaffe target: Convoy Bread

Fighter engagements with the enemy were on a smaller scale due to a reduction of enemy activity near our coasts. What activity there was, however, was almost entirely directed towards attacks on shipping. Bombs damaged convoys off Dover and a naval unit was bombed off Swanage. No damage reported. A convoy off the Norfolk Coast was also reconnoitred, and one raid approached the coast of Montrose. Patrols were maintained over convoys at periods during the day; one enemy aircraft in reporting the position of a convoy, mentioned our fighter escort and no attack resulted.

From 0600 to 0900 hours very little activity occurred. One raid went through the Straits and disappeared north of Boulogne. An intercepting attempt was unsuccessful. One raid near Poole went inland and back over the sea again sections, and at 0900 hours no reports of bombs dropped or interceptions had been made. Between 0900 and 1100 hours five raids were plotted over the Channel from Start Point to Dungenness. Shortly after 1100 hours two raids approached Swanage and a naval unit reported having been bombed. No reports were received regarding any damage. Hostile aircraft were tracked intermittently between Start Point and Land's End searching for shipping, but no convoys were in the area. Between 1300 and 1400 hours several raids were over convoys near Dover. Our fighters were on escort duty and the raiders turned back.

At about 1500 hours, a number of raids were plotted, assembling behind Calais. In consequence, 3 fighter squadrons proceeded to investigate and intercepted an enemy force of 40 Ju87s, escorted by a number of Me109s over Dover and the Channel. Our aircraft shot down 3 Ju87s, 3 Me109s, and probably destroyed 1 Ju87 and 1 Me109. Our loss was one Hurricane. During this combat, a Hurricane which failed to answer a challenge was attacked by our fighters, whereupon it dived towards sea level and flew off towards France. Two merchant vessels were attacked and a naval unit hit during this engagement.

Red Leader - 615 Squadron - RAF Kenley

Large E/A build up detected by Radar over the channel, so headed for Hellfire Corner, Jerry was quite obliging and gave us a horde of Stukas to play with. Shot one down and damaged another.

Gun sight view from Red Leader as another Hurricane bores in for the kill.

Taken by Red Leader shortly after he had landed at Biggin Hill himself.

Returned by mistake to Biggin Hill. Looks like another little flight before bed tonight.

Confirmed 1 kill.

Pilots Notes:
Good sortie, good weather, plenty of targets and managed to get through without a scrape. Took a magical mystery tour of Kent due to my wandering joystick but made it back with enough fuel. Lapsed into nostalgia en route, apologies for that folks!

Task Force so nearly gets it right...

Very nice shots TF Love the ones over Dover...and your landing at the end of the first sortee, I missed the landing itself but where you wound up was just pure hilarity.

No need to apologize, your nostalgia gives us something to chat about during the flight

Yes, you're welcome to join.

We do not use Hypperlobby, the campaign we play is hosted on a private server currently hosted by me on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening 22:00 GMT+1.

We meet eachother on Teamspeak (we have 3 servers to pick from but we'll let you know beforehand which one it is)

the requirements to play with us is a IL2 1946 installation updated to 4.09m and modified with the HSFX mod 4.11 + hotfix and the ''The 352nd Virtual Fighter Group'' Cross Channel Map.

if you have more questions, don't be afraid to ask them

They do have some strange designations. Booty, Bread, Pilot (we'll see that one on Monday probably), although there's a Convoy called Bacon off the coast of Portland on the 27th July, so you might be able to get a Bacon Sarnie out of it

The weather is due to clear up a bit around the 20th through to the 25th and then it gets a bit more unpredictable until the 31st when it was nice enough for bathers to brave the barbed wire on the beaches.
There's a few clashes in the first days of August and then it goes quiet in the build up to Adlertag, and then all hell breaks loose.
