Default Not total newbie, getting back but playing SH5 first time, should I get TWOS?

Hello all,

I have been here about 8 years back and played a lot in modded SH3. I am now getting back with SH5. It will be my first play on SH5, do you think I should get TWOS or play vanilla. I am interested in casual and almost easy gameplay for now, but I am interested in graphics or best mods that make SH5 beautiful. Do you recommend me TWOS, if i have this outlook.

Edit: I have bought the Uplay SH5 Gold Edition

Thanks

I have the same edition. I never bought SH5 back in the day because subsim was crawling with comments on how terrible the game was. I got the game about a year ago, and got TWOS right away... never played vanilla, and I love it. Best mega mod you can get. You wont be disappointed.

I have to add, 100% realism is what makes TWOS and this game great. Try realism my friend.

Here is a video to get you started! I have many more.

U-Boat Commander's hanbook $5 on amazon.com

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=239796

The above thread I just put out contains mostly things covered in the UCHB.

Subsim.com of course! I don't know how you feel, but this website has no competitor when it comes to information on this genre of games. The boys here have archived more things about submarine simulators than most of us forgot about!

Conovaro SH3 guide and documents. He has maneuvering boards, speed tables, range tables RPM tables. All this can be printed out and keep near you during the game.

THEBERBSTER just posted a comment, and his signature will lead you to the most comprehensive guides you need.

The YouTube video I sent is one I made, and my channel has more. There are video galore by other members.

Good luck!

I just want to add, that if you’re only getting these books while playing at some realism… Then these books and resources are just good reading material. But if you’re looking to get into 100% realism, then U-BOAT COMMANDERS HANDBOOK will be your guide. Following these books along with the PRIZE RULES of World War II will bring you into a very immersive place that you will absolutely love.

My friend if you ever need help with anything, just let me know. I have read so many books on the subject I can’t even remember where which one starts and the other one stops. There’s so much in video books websites that you can follow.

I even read Das Boot and that was great for my gameplay. It puts me in the mental state of the sailors back in the day.

in game options -under sound- check "no music"
in sub click on sound guy-and select either gramophone or radio.
you can play radio only while surface or gramophone
either on surface or submerged

Thanks found that out. Sorry, I am lazy to check but eager to ask. Anyway, it will help others.

For others: Yes, you can turn off game music but still listen to gramaphone! Just turn of music in game options, it will turn off game music but you can still listen to gramaphone.

I have a question, I see there are charts by Sjizzle but is there a way to configure which charts to add or remove, for instance I watched the manual TDC video here, and it talks about AOB calculation on ratio measurements, there is a chart data beneath AOB slider, I couldnt find it in TWOS in AOB/Aspect ratio

There is acqY but you can only have I think 20 charts active at a time.
