Interesting photo for you.
This photo was taking at RAF Binbrook in 1987, my friend was visiting with some air cadets and they came across a Lightning T-55, XS456, with 'Soviet' markings. It was done by the paint bay, whether for a laugh or told to I don't know, but when Group Captain John Spencer saw it he ordered it to be immediately removed.
My friend took a photo, as far as I know it's the only one in existence of this aircraft painted like this. Another friend had a copy printed and put it on Facebook the other day. Yay a digital copy to share.

Ha! Brilliant! Although, careful, you'll get Nik in here saying that the Frightening was a MiG-21 knock-off again!
I can only imagine the faces of the crew of a Bear if that had popped up off their starboard wing. |
