U-1169 (Type VIIC-41)


Sunk 29 March, 1945 in the English Channel south of Lizard Point, in position 49.58N, 05.25W, by depth charges from the British frigate HMS Duckworth. 49 dead (all hands lost).

U-1171 (Type VIIC-41)

Transferred from Stavanger, Norway to Loch Ryan, Scotland on 29 May, 1945.
Became the British submarine N 19. Broken up at Sunderland in April 1949.


U-1192 (Type VIIC)



Scuttled on 3 May, 1945 at Kiel. Later raised and wreck broken up.

U-1195 (Type VIIC)

Sunk 7 April, 1945 in the English Channel in position 50.33.17N, 00.56.09W, by depth charges from the British destroyer HMS Watchman. Salvage attempts abandoned in April 1945. 32 dead and 18 survivors.

U-1202 (Type VIIC)

Stricken at Bergen, Norway on 10 May, 1945. Surrendered to Britain. Transferred to Norway in October 1948. Became the Norwegian submarine KNM Kinn on 1 July, 1951. Stricken 1 June, 1961. Transferred to Hamburg and broken up in 1963.

U-1222 (Type IXC-40)

Sunk 11 July, 1944 in the Bay of Biscay west of La Rochelle, in position 46.31N, 05.29W, by depth charges from a British Sunderland aircraft (Sqdn 201/P). 56 dead (all hands lost).

U-1224 (Type IXC-40)

Served as RO 501 in Japanese service from 15 Feb, 1944. Sunk 13 May, 1944 in the mid-Atlantic north-west of Cape Verde Islands, in position 18.08N, 33.13W, by depth charges from the US destroyer escort USS Francis M. Robinson.

U-1229 (Type IXC-40)




Sunk 20 Aug, 1944 in the North Atlantic south-east of Newfoundland, in position 42.20N, 51.39W, by depth charges and rockets from 3 Avenger and 2 Wildcat aircraft (VC-42) of the US escort carrier USS Bogue. 18 dead and 41 survivors.

Surrendered at Lough Foyle (Lisahally), Northern Ireland on 14 May, 1945

U-1232 (Type IXC-40)



U-1232 was captured by the British at Wesermünde in May 1945. The boat foundered and sank on 4 March, 1946 in position 54.11,2N, 07.24,7E while in tow for the scuttling grounds

Surrendered at Loch Eriboll, Scotland, 10 May, 1945.
Became USSR submarine S 84 in November 1945.

U-1306 (Type VIIC-41)

Scuttled on 5 May, 1945 in Gelting Bay. Wreck broken up.

U-1406 (Type XVIIB)

Scuttled on 5 May, 1945 at Cuxhaven. Later raised and transported to the USA on the deck of the US transport vessel Shoemaker on 15 Sep, 1945. She was used for trials by the US Navy and broken up in New York harbor sometime after 18 May, 1948.

U-1407 (Type XVIIB)



Scuttled 5 May, 1945 at Cuxhaven.

Later raised and taken as British Prize and later became the British submarine Meteorite 1946 - 1949. The boat was broken up at Barrow in 1949.

Sunk at 1635hrs on 26 July, 1944 west of Möltenort, in position 54.23N, 10.11E, by a mine. 2 dead and 12 survivors.

U-2324 (Type XXIII)

Oblt.z.S Hans-Heinrich Hass, 1.WO (Lt.z.S Hartwig) and Obersteuermann (Willy Schröder)

Surrendered at Stavanger, Norway. Taken to Loch Ryan on 29 May, 1945 for Operation Deadlight.

U-2325 (Type XXIII)

Surrendered at Kristiansand Süd, Norway. Taken to Loch Ryan on 29 May, 1945 for Operation Deadlight

U-2326 (Type XXIII)



Surrendered at Dundee, Scotland on 14 May 1945.
Became the British submarine N 35. Transferred to France in 1946. Sank 6 Dec, 1946 at Toulon in an accident. Many sources claim she was raised and broken up but the French never raise warships sunk with loss of life as they are regarded as military graves

On the right

Surrendered at Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Taken to Lisahally 21 June, 1945 for Operation Deadlight.

U-2344 (Type XXIII)

Sank 18 Feb 1945 north of Heiligendamm, in position 54.16.5N, 11.48.5E, after a collision with U-2336. 11 dead and 3 survivors
Raised in June 1956, measured and conserved, but not restored. Broken up at Rostock in 1958

U-2345 (Type XXIII)

Surrendered at Stavanger, Norway. Taken to Loch Ryan, Scotland on 30 June, 1945 for Operation Deadlight

U-2353 (Type XXIII)

Transferred from Kristiansand Süd, Norway to Loch Ryan, Scotland on 29 May, 1945.
This boat became the British submarine N 37. Transferred to the USSR in 1947. Broken up in 1963

Sunk 2 May, 1945 in the Kattegat, in position 57.29N, 11.24E, byrockets from British Mosquito aircraft (Sqdn. 143, 235 & 248), Norwegian Mosquito aircraft (Sqdn. 333) and Canadian Mosquito aircraft (RCAF 404). 12 dead (all hands lost).

U-2360 (Type XXIII)

Scuttled on 5 May 1945 in Gelting Bay. Wreck broken up.

U-2361 (Type XXIII)

U-2365 (Type XXIII)



Scuttled on 8 May, 1945 in the Kattegat, north-west of Anholt island in position 56.51N, 11.49E.
The boat was raised in June 1956. Commissioned as U-Hai (S 170) in the German Federal Navy 15 Aug 1957.
The boat sank at 1854hrs on 14 Sept, 1966 in the North Sea, in position 55.15N, 04.22E, after taking in water. Raised on 19 Sept, 1966 from 47 meters depth and broken up.


U-2367 (Type XXIII)



Sank 5 May, 1945 near Schleimünde, in approximate position 55.00N, 11.00E, after a collision with an unidentified German U-boat. Raised in August 1956. Renamed U-Hecht (pike) and served in the German Federal Navy from 1 Oct, 1957. Stricken on 30 Sep, 1968 and broken up at Kiel in 1969

Surrendered in the 11th Flotilla
On 1 Jan, 1946 she was taken to Moville some 15 miles north of Lisahally. From there she was sunk on 2 Jan, 1946 at 1030 hours in position 56.06N, 09.00W during Operation Deadlight.

Surrendered in the 11th Flotilla. Left Bergen (Norway) on 14 June, 1945
She was taken from Moville sunk on 5 Jan, 1946 at 1810 hours in position 55.37N, 07.30W during Operation Deadlight.


U-2508 (Type XXI)

Scuttled on 3 May, 1945 at Kiel. Wreck broken up.

U-2511 (Type XXI)



Surrendered at Bergen, Norway in May 1945. Transferred from Bergen, Norway to Lisahally, Northern Ireland on 14 June 1945 for Operation Deadlight.
