Default Crew management and morale tips? (WAC)

The best thing I noticed playing SH3 is the immersive morale and crew management system through one of the side screens.
What I do not understand is how morale and fatigue work. Seems clear enough that Watchmen need some rest every 6 hours or so; I also noticed that some officers automatically dismount to take some rest during the night, while the whole control room never quits. The same for common sailors all around the boat

How do I know when crewmembers are freshly rested or tired? Any tips to do turn rotations?

I am using WAC 5.1, if that changes some aspects.

Francis

Ultimately what counts is the overall bar amount of a station, e.g. if the the deck is filled with green almost to the right, it means the watch men are in sufficient quantiy and quality (if you put the specialist officer on it) for best performance in spotting enemies. At night, man the deck with only 2 crew men without specialist, that's enough because there's also the sonar man to spot near contacts.

The same goes with other stations, man the torpedo rooms with enough crew to speed up torpedo loadings.

By clicking on a station's bar you automatically fill it with the optimal nr. of men to do service in it, also there are preset tabs for normal service or battle stations to chose from.

Then, watch the individual bars of a crew man for its endurance, if it goes low it surley needs to rest for some time, however in WAC I don't see this often, maybe after an intense battle with evasion. If you change the crew positions often, no one will 'suddenly' be stressed. I think (not sure) in SH3 Commander you can set the fatigue behavior of the crew, you would then need to launch game from the Commander.

Put men at rest in the compartments next to the command room (left & right).

These are just normal guidelines, there's not much else to it I think, except that you can get more crew members to join your sub at the cost of renown points (when in port obviously).

Is now something offtopic of me...
But this is exactly what convinces me most about SH4 - the team management.
Once the crews and officers in the harbor, I do not need to worry about the wake up at sea... I have my COB (Chief of the Boat).
So there are very few situations where I have to intervene in the team management during a mission.
And that's the way it should be - I'm not the crew her "mother" who has to put people to bed or whom I want or need to shoulder a howl - I'm their commander.

I try to load/distribute medals earned as often and as easy as possible. Pretty sure the more upper echelon medals assigned to a crewman, the better his endurance.

As well, one of the first trades I assign is a medic PO where I place one in the forward crew quarters and one in the rear quarters and never move them throught the game. As I recall, being in proximity to a medic aids in restoring endurance
