Whatever. I understand that this is simulation. And that you have to bend history a bit sometimes to make it fun and unpredictable. However, when it comes to enemy TTP’s that should be left alone. There isn’t a single incident where a Japanese surface ship intentionally fired a torpedo at a US submarine.

First of all I apologize with the forum for this off-topic But I do not like certain attitudes.
@J0313
Instead of sending me messages in private inviting me to "Keep your mouth shut" better you write publicly this on the forum,your thinks.
You told me that you did the war, this does not make you better or worse than the others,and above all it does not make you superior to anyone
One of the principles of democracy is perfectly explained in the sentence of Evelyn Beatrice Hall "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"probably this concept is not clear to you.I'm sorry man.

Perhaps one of our more learned members could cite the event more accurately and completely?

To repeat from an earlier post, and not to antagonize anyone, I like the addition of the torpedoes and the added tension it brings to an engagement. No more of this feeling of invulnerability one can get from easily avoiding or sinking escorts more or less at will. I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a sub sim. I like having to use my little brain to set up an attack with another element of danger to worry about. The satisfaction of carrying it out and living to tell about it is enhanced by the addition of added danger. But that's just me, I guess. By the way, I think the torpedo factor will essentially eliminate shallow water attacks on any warship! No room to dive under the torps, y'know?

Hello... again,

It's been a while since I was on here regularly but I'm getting that urge to go 'deep and quiet' again, so I dropped in to say HI and ask a question about this (if its any like the original release... ohh boy) mod

Unfortunately my eyes are not as they used to and therefore I was wondering if the " 3000yrd Bearing Tool" and "Bigger Protractor" mods will work with FOTRSU?

Also, I see a couple of mods have been merged in FOTRSU are there plan's to add more and if so, what mods will be added?

Regards,

HJ

"Yes" HertogJan, this is like all of the old Fall of the Rising Sun mods put together (only better... ). The environment and ~all~ of the ships, plus more... There is a bearing tool already in the mod, so see if it suffices for you first. Bigger Better Protractors does function as intended, with no affects on the mod. Fingers are crossed that a v0.72 mix will be forthcoming. It will have "fixes" for the v0.71 issues that have been discovered, plus some further tweaks.

I'm sorry to hear hauangua that you've received PM's from J0313 that have been less than appropriate on this matter. I too have received his PM's with rude intent and obviously he has an ax to grind! It's one thing for him to PM me regarding "The Hipocracy" (his spelling not mine) of using AI Torpedoes in-game, but quite another to take it out on a player who only wants to give his own opinion....contrary to his.

You know, I didn't want to pull out my "trump card" (no intentional regard to my "beloved" POTUS), but there were 52 submarines lost during WWII. Out of those, the "Official" reason of 16 of them is classified "Unknown". The prospect that at least one of these "unknowns" could have been lost due to enemy torpedoes is just as plausible as the loss of the Corvina...….. which was indeed lost to a Japanese submarine torpedo attack. Maybe a little reading of "historical" information will enlighten the subject?

Try this "Final Patrols of the 52 Lost Submarines".

Ahoy guys haven't posted in awhile but really enjoying the game In a Porpoise class sub sure beats the heck out of the slow moving s boat. I had to make a few changes to the game I am nowhere near the experts you guys are. I used Ducimus's edit for putting the tails back on the nav map helped me alot! also changed the crash dive key to c I have clumsy fingers it took me too much time to hit 2 keys I don't go to periscope depth when a plane is spotted I crash dive and go to battle stations and get the frack down. You guys have done a great job on this mod . I doubt anyone else would ask this but would you mind telling me how to edit out the map plotter only on the nav map what happens is with my approach circle drawn the map gets clutter up when I zoom in. The planes are a lot less of a problem now not sure if there are less of them or I am just better at avoiding them I can spend a fair amount of time cruising on the surface. My own opinion on the torpedoes from war ships is I love the chaos they create in the game (in the forum not so much).

Hey Propbeanie sorry my technical vocabulary is not up to speed with you guys. Basically on the Nav map not the attack map when I zoom in a type of bearing plotter pops for lack of a better word rose compass. I basically plot a ships course, plot an intercept course, draw a circle with my compass 1000 yd as he approaches it when I zoom in I get the plotter over my circle. On the attack map it doesn't matter none of the markings on the nav map transfer over to it. Hope this clears it up a bit. Appreciate the fast response. Like I said in the other post I'm nowhere near the level you guys are. Probably about 70% accurate with my torpedoes + or -.

Yes I know all about the Corvina. Lost to a torpedo attack by a SUBMARINE THAT WAS SUBMERGED. Did every body see that in caps. I hope so. Notice it said SUBMARINE and not SURFACE SHIP. Did you see that scurvy? And believe me I know all about the 52 American subs that were sunk during WW2. One of them happened to be My Grandfathers boat the USS Grenadier. You see I have the advantage of being raised by a real live WW2 Sub vet unlike you scurvy. I attended about 5 conventions Of the submarine Veterans of WW2. So please, stop trying to DAZZLE me with your knowledge of WW2. What a joke.

And hanagua, why don't you and scurvy PM me if you wan't to talk about my PM's to you. Or we can just do it right here.

I take your frigging comment about soldiers not having reset buttons as an insult. And if you don't like it then, oh well. I sent you a PM because I wanted to tell you and scurvy what I really think about you and that would get me kicked out of the open forum. So you can deal with that as you see fit. You see you can voice your opinion without insulting other peoples intelligence with stupid comments like the one you made. I DID defend your right to do that as well as my right to tell you to keep your mouth shut.

@JO313

I think that's it time to take some steps back and consider what you're saying here. Telling other people in the open forums or in PM to "keep their mouths shut" is not allowed anywhere on these forums. Please, let's keep it civil.

Naw captcrane, just a failure to interpret the query... that's a database term... I would say SQL, but my language is very un-structured... anyway, you most likely mean this little baby, correct?:

which begs the question, either / or both? The 3000 bearing tool, or the nomograph on the right?
