my thoughts are if you use a projector instead of the monitor for the external view it would cast a much bigger (hence better) representation of the sea.

but you probably need to smooth out the wall in front to achieve that.

Wow! Awesome job there, very cool

I like the look and feel of the interior and it's nice to see another home built sub simulator out there.

Thx.

It does add immensely to the experience.

Being depth charged thru 400W of 7.1 Dolby surround is deafening and well, kinda frightening.
I can't imagine how nerve wracking the real thing must have been.

Jim,

I can believe that is some experience. I have not yet been thru a depth charge attack in my simulator. (I'm currently doing submarine training based in New London before I sail to the Pacific). It's something to look forward to!

Please post more pics and progress reports when ready.

New gauges: Depth gauge, Fuel, Battery, Compressed Air and C02

-made from 8 inch plastic quartz wall clocks

Gauges have to be updated manually. The idea is to add realism when systems get critical.

Just reading through this thread and when I saw the bridge I thought of this.

This would pretty much take your setup to next level.

Wow ! That is amazing.

I have been recently thinking if the next generation of sub sims were made for Virtual Reality if I would prefer that or keep the hands on experience of a physical simulator. This looks like both are going to be possible in a way I had never imagined.

Thanks for posting this. ( And sorry for the late reply. I took a look at this earlier but I did not understand what I was looking at ! )

This all looks so amazing I'm lost for words. I've just watched the youtube links put on and was so impressed I got the wife out of bed to have a look (she wasn't as impressed ).

The future of gaming, especially simulators. I just hope I'm around when it happens and have the techno know-how to use it.

Awesome doesn't even begin to describe this setup.

Do you have the loud OOgggaaa horn / sound when you dive ?

I showed my lady this and while she admired the handiwork, she told me, " don't get any ideas. " Oh well.

JAFO-! PSST!!!! OH YES U DO NEED PERMISSION! BEING LORD OF THE MANOR IS SECOND TO THE RANK OF CHATELAINE OF THE CASTLE IE: MY NOW RETIRED ATTORNEY WIFE OF 37 YEARS. THIS HAS ONLY BENEFITS AS THE MYRIAD DETAILS OF A HOUSEHOLD ARE BENEATH MY DIGNITY AND ABOVE MY ABILITIES; SO IT IS ACTUALLY A GREAT CONVENIENCE. I FOLLOW ORDERS, BAR-B-Q, DO THE HEAVY LIFTING AND KEEP THE VEHICLES OPERATIONAL-AND LIFE IS SIMPLE.
