U-752 (Type VIIC)

Sunk 23 May, 1943 in the North Atlantic, in position 51.40N, 29.49W, by rockets from a Swordfish aircraft (FAA-Sqdn. 819) of the British escort carrier HMS Archer. 29 dead and 17 survivors.

U-753 (Type VIIC)

Sunk 13 May, 1943 in the North Atlantic, in position 48.37N, 22.39W, by depth charges from the Canadian corvette HMCS Drumheller, the British frigate HMS Lagan and depth charges from a Canadian Sunderland aircraft (RCAF Sqdn. 423/G). 47 dead (all hands lost).


U-754 (Type VIIC)

Sunk 31 July, 1942 in North Atlantic north of Boston, USA in position 43.02N, 64.52W, by a Canadian Hudson aircraft (RCAF Sqdn. 113). 43 dead (all hands lost).

U-755 (Type VIIC)

Sunk 28 May, 1943 in the Mediterranean north-west of Mallorca, in position 39.58N, 01.41E, by rockets from a British Hudson aircraft (608 Sqdn.). 40 dead and 9 survivors.

U-756 (Type VIIC)



Sunk 1 Sept, 1942 in the North Atlantic, in position 57.41N, 31.30W, by depth charges from the Canadian corvette HMCS Morden. 43 dead (all hands lost).

U-757 (Type VIIC)

Sunk 8 Jan, 1944 in the North Atlantic south-west of Iceland, in position 50.33N, 18.03W, by depth charges from the British frigate HMS Bayntun and the Canadian corvette HMCS Camrose. 49 dead (all hands lost).

U-758 (Type VIIC)


Stricken at Kiel, Germany on 16 March, 1945 after being badly damaged by British bombs. Broken up in 1946-1947.

U-760 (Type VIIC)

Attacked by a British Wellington aircraft (Sqdn 179/C) about 150 miles out of Cape of Finisterre on september 7, 1943

The boat was taken to El Ferrol where she remained until the end of the war. On July 23, 1945 the boat was taken to England for Operation Deadlight

U-761 (Type VIIC)







Scuttled 24 Feb, 1944 in the mid-Atlantic near Tangier, in position 35.55N, 05.45W, in view of approaching British destroyers HMS Anthony and HMS Wishart. 9 dead and 48 survivors.

Scuttled 29 Jan, 1945 in Köningsberg at the Schichau shipyard, in position 54.42N, 20.32E, after being damaged by Soviet bombs.

U-764 (Type VIIC)

Surrendered 14 May, 1945 at Lisahally, Northern Ireland. Transferred to Loch Foyle for Operation Deadlight.

U-765 (Type VIIC)

Sunk 6 May, 1944 in the North Atlantic, in position 52.30N, 28.28W, by depth charges from 2 Swordfish aircraft (Sqdn. 825) of the British escort carrier HMS Vindex and the British frigates HMS Bickerton, HMS Bligh and HMS Aylmer. 37 dead and 11 survivors.

Stricken on 21 Aug, 1944 near La Pallice, in position 46.10N, 01.14W, when unable to put to sea and surrendered to France.

Became the French submarine Laubie in 1947. Stricken on 11 March, 1963 as Q335. Broken up

Surrendered at Weymouth, England on 20 May, 1945.

The U-776, one of the German submarines which were surrendered at Weymouth is now moored to Westminster Pier


U-778 (Type VIIC)

Surrendered at Bergen, Norway on 8 May, 1945. Transferred to Loch Ryan, Scotland for Operation Deadlight.

Used for trials. Scuttled at 0130hrs on 4 May, 1945 in position 54.19N, 09.43E in the Audorfer See, near Rendsburg.

U-793 (Type XVIIA - Wa 201)

Scuttled at 0130hrs on 4 May, 1945 in position 54.19N, 09.43E in the Audorfer See, near Rendsburg.

The boat was later raised and taken as a British Prize and used for trials. Final fate unknown

U-795 (Type XVIIA - Wk 202)

Used for trials and scuttled on May 3, 1945 at Germaniawerft in Kiel. Later broken up.

Sunk 17 March, 1944 in the mid-Atlantic near the Cape Verde Islands, in position 16.42N, 30.28W, by a Fido homing torpedo from 2 Avenger aircraft (VC-9) of the US escort carrier USS Block Island and depth charges and gunfire from the US destroyer USS Corry and the US destroyer escort USS Bronstein. 10 dead and 47 survivors.

Sunk 9 April, 1945 in the Kattegat in position 57.58N, 11.15E, by rockets from 13 British Mosquito aircraft (Sqdn. 143, 235 & 248). 55 dead (all hands lost).

Sunk at 1145hrs on 10 June, 1944 in the Bay of Biscay, near Brest, in position 48.31N, 05.11W by depth charges from a British Liberator and 4 Mosquito aircraft (Sqdn. 206/K & 248). 50 dead and 1 survivor


U-822 (Type VIIC)

Scuttled on May 3, 1945 in the Wesermünde, in position 53.32N, 08.35E. Wreck broken up in 1948.

U-825 (Type VIIC)

Surrendered at Portland on May 10, 1945. Transferred to Lisahally, Northern Ireland for Operation Deadlight.

U-826 (Type VIIC)

Surrendered at Loch Eriboll, Scotland, on 11 May, 1945. Transferred to Loch Ryan, Scotland for Operation Deadlight.

Sunk 17 Oct, 1943 in the North Atlantic east of Cape Farewell, Greenland, in position 59.57N, 31.06W, by depth charges from the British frigate HMS Byard. 27 dead and 27 survivors.

U-843 (Type IXC-40)

Sunk 9 April, 1945 in the Kattegat west of Gothenburg, in position 57.32N, 11.23E, by rockets from a British Mosquito aircraft (RAF Sqdn 235/A, pilot F/O A.J. Rendell). 44 dead and 12 survivors.
