Default Disable Campaign 'Limits'

Hey all. Loving the game. Curious if there would be a way to make the campaign more like Silent Hunter 3 and 4 where what you do really has no outcome on the war. Would love it if I just sail around attacking stuff and taking missions here and there.

Currently, if I miss a convoy then Germany surrenders or something like that. A bit silly my one boat has such a massive effect on the war. Be cool if you could do what you want and not feel so much pressure to follow the mission or else risk losing the game.

Not sure if it's even possible but figured I would ask.

Thanks for your time!

I think the campaign concept is similar than that of Dangerous Waters. I myself would like to depart from port to the designated place as well as being able to stand on the bridge. The way the map system of travelling is used reminds me of Micropose's Silent Service back in the 80s.

A bit of a late response, though I found that modifying the number of units in a mission can make it more interesting and/or possibly very difficult to complete.

While not the same as relative random target acquisition/encounters,

Say a mission calls for 1-2, 2-3, 0-1 (random units in mission) editing to say 2--3, 4-6, 1-3 and corresponding Defensive/Offensive role, makes seemingly easy missions more interesting as you're not sure what you'll encounter or how many.

Just my .02.
