They said! See the world, they said...
Yeah, I see...the bottom of the ocean!!! So, that early 1944 year, what a ride. After successful convoy attacks in the last months of 1943, managing to slip the escorts screens by intercepting the convoys at front and after firing the torpedoes, just going trough the convoy deep, in the first patrol of U-103 (Type IX) in 1944, got a south heading outbound convoy, near Azores. Got in to position after intercepting the convoy, but this time I was far way and attacked out side the escorts at 4/3km away. Turn the boat away and went deep and silent speed. The lead port escort detected me and . Lovely... So, after one then come another and it was a blast.Pinging escort, deep charges, turning to port or starboard, diving, releasing decoys, sometimes being shaken and repeat! One time they lost me and I thought . Was at 250m but after a few minutes, !!! Argh.... Since I was being ping, went always ahead standard or full, they come to drop and I turned and went to see if the shipyard was good in building u-boats. Flank, 260m deep and turn to port. When the first explosions, ordered all stop and rudder midship and waited. After a few moments, 1kn of speed... And lived to tell the tale. The two escorts never detected me again, spent a few minutes all stopped and then one by one began to go away. When the message of warship moving away, fast speed appear, that was something. Do to the speed I dropped to 265m and began to get pressure damage. Ordered more speed and 150m. The last escort remained in place for more minutes but even with the boat doing 4kn and rising, it didn't pick me up and went way. |

I question what you're crew was thinking, putting the boat that deep.
