I dont think doing it right, would move the crew to the gun in those conditions.

Hi Shaefer

What an excellent tutorial number 14 is for anyone coming in to SH5 and needing to know what to do.

I have a theory why you did not get a u-boat upgrade with the patrol you have just ended.

If you had ended the patrol instead of refitting at Helgoland this would have given you your 1st end of patrol.

You do not have to look for your u-boat upgrade as it is offered when you end the patrol.

Only ending the patrol once instead of twice I think cost you the upgrade this time.

If you end the patrol next time instead of refitting you should get your upgrade.

You should be able to upgrade before North Western Approaches appears while doing Eastern British Coastal Waters.

No need for theory, it is all very clear...In order to trigger new sub offer you need at least 3 rating points. Because he sank number of neutral ships the game gave him -1 point for every neutral kill so there is possibility that his overall rating is very low, even negative...

Player rating can be checked and edited in CareerTrack.upc
file from your last gamesave

Code:

And one more thing Shaefer, try to understand that there are no tonnage objectives any more but still your tonnage is very important factor, especially capital ships and tankers (you got Iron Cross 2nd class for capital ships in Scapa Flow and 2 rating points). Don't think about small crosses because as far as game is considered , they don't mean nothing for your progress.

Oh yes, regarding your mentioned CTD near south east coast of England... If I'm correct, your patrol was enormously long, to much stuff happen and that can effect stability. Try to restart your game completely between encounters and actions, if you don't do that the game will restart it self...It is automatic...

Hi Vecko

I seem to remember a discussion about this some time ago on a post or two.

For Shaefer's benefit I have dug out my info on the subject.

With the changes that have taken place it is easy to lose focus on the fact that there are still objectives if that is the right word that need to be done so as to be able to move forward in the game.

G'day Shaefer, yes I have and they look great! I had to remove some of the other user charts so that the total number did not exceed 50. Just remove the User Charts that you never seem to use by deleting or editing one one of the C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\data\UserCharts\UserChart_Sjizzle part*.TDW . See below......

EDIT: I thought that the Shipping charts were duplicated but unfortunately they aren't. I'll have to remove something else and reinstall UserChart_Shipping.TDW because I use the coloured Shipping chart quite often to check the shipping lanes and air coverage areas. Maybe the Timepiece board because I have no idea what it's for or how to use it.

EDIT AGAIN: You have to remove another two additional user charts to keep the Shipping charts if you want them.

If you have done it before then maybe not.

But for a first timer I would say yes it is worth doing.

Various decisions to be made.

What time should I start my approach?

Which entrance.

Where I do I start looking for it.

Will I have enough battery.

Is the weather going to help me?

Personally I like to do Scapa and have tried 3 of the entrances.

Episode 11 was quite gripping and immersive.

Cant wait to see what happens in episode 12.

Peter
Found an old B&W movie (1958) on YT about Günther Prien and the sinking of the Royal Oak. The interesting thing about this movie is that I think many of the scenes were actually filmed on a real U-boat and not a movie set mockup, although not confirmed in the credits. Language is in German and is well worth a look.

I believe what they mean is that the main tonnage objective is kaput, however the smaller objectives like patrol AN such and such are still good.

Your objective is to sink entire British merchant fleet and to record it in your videos, can you do that?

Hi Shaefer

Dont forget that AMC's are warships.

Have you thought about an attack on Loch Ewe or Stornoway.

sober did an attack on Stornoway with some good results.

I have done Stornoway once and Loch Ewe twice previously and it will test your Captaincy and nerves.

I just tried it in campaign on a patrol , you can enable the mod anytime . Here you go Shaefer .http://www.mediafire.com/download/cd...haefer_SH5.zip
If you cannot get renoun for the 7B you will get it when historically available date wise . I also moved the uzo forwards a fraction and lowered your player avater slightly . Seems to have fixed the slanted horizon when looking thru the binos .

Peter, you know how to tempt me, you naughty boy you. Now I have to do it, you know. Fingers crossed it will be more of a test than Scapa.

@Sober!
Thank you very much! This will be grand.

I just uploaded a file with the 7A included (previous post). Use that one to get the crew moved for your current sub in the video .
