Default Thank You

I immediately downloaded and started playing. After the installation, I did play a senerio and noticed the sky was dark. I did the weather fix and it looks good. It was great to see the dreadnought ship as well as other models.
One Question, I did download the Eng version, but noticed still the captains log and most of the menu screens are still in German. Did I download the correct version?

Please do not misinterpurt my question. I'll learn German before I uninstall. This mod is great! I love the sound of the loading process and the voices for commands.

Just a checking question. Thanks again for the repost. I do hope that more is to come. I would love to contribute, just that computer literate.

Good hunting

Hi,

thanks for commendation first.
You have the right version, "Eng" is related to mission briefing text (before starting any mission). All menu screens are in German, hope it's not a real problem. Log is in German because I don't own an English copy of the game and ship types and names are also in german.

Default AA & AF settings?

Hi

I am _really_ impressed by the Kurs West mod for SOF. This sim seems to be one of those that gradually comes to life as more and more enhancing mods come through.

There's just one thing that puzzles me. The installation notes refer to using "AA (game settings) and AF (graphics acc. settings). " What are these AA & AF settings, I can't find them!

Thanks

Mike

Hi mikedora,

AA = anti aliasing, AF = anisotropic filter.
Both can be activated and adjusted in your VGA card settings, AA is also adjustable in game settings of SoF:
Hauptmenue (main menue) -> Einstellungen (settings) -> Grafikeinstellungen (graphic settings) -> switch "2xFSAA" or "4xFSAA" to "JA" (yes).

Kurs West effects campaign, training and single missions.

Maybe your installation path is incorrect. If you simply d&d the UKW folder into the SoF folder, the installation will also be incomplete.
You can type or copy/paste the path of your installed SoF in the "Directory" window of the UKW!installer program, so your SOF will be found.
UKW must be installed to "...\Strategyfirst\1914 - Shells of Fury", but that's the default, anyway.

Late reply, I know...

Have had SOF for awhile, but have not played it much. I will have to give this mod a go.

Thanks

Default UKW - Download Link broken again

I tried the link above, but it seems that the file has disappeared again.

DerSchmutt: Would you please fix it again?

Thanks and Cheers to all your hard work for the community.

Hello there

I just decided to re-install SOF. My computer at the time it came out really didn't handle it well and it had just never made it's way back on to my PC until I started reading about this mod recently. My only problem is however the German. I know it is only a small portion of the text, but I am admittedly useless in anything but English and a bit of Quebec French.

Is there anything I can do during install to minimize the amount of German this mod inserts into the game? Maybe leaving out new menu screens etc where it will not mess up any new options you may have added. (I don't know if there is anything new in the menu.. can't read it! lol)

Any advise would be welcome, and thanks for working on mods for this game.

I don't know of any fixes for the remaining German text, but there are only a few screens that really use it, and I would think you might just take notes before modding to UKW.

Yeah will have to do that, and it shouldn't be much of a problem. I just thought I should ask, better then just living with it and not knowing

If you wil notice, the SOF "volumesky" files are ".dds" files, but the original SOF "Weather.txt" file still refers to them as "volumesky.tga" files. As a result, changing them back to ".tga" files in your "Weather.txt" file allows them be be read as originally intended.

Thank you Lewis for catching this.
I know I'm a latecomer on this..but I just got SOF today and DS's new mod..Happy to report that renaming the .dds files back to .tga in the weather.txt file worked here as well....late I know...but thought I would report anyhow.

Danke
