Default [REL] Navigation Map Make-Over with German Labels For Operation Monsun & OMEGU

Navigation Map Make-Over with German Labels

For Operation Monsun & OMEGU

By Bryan Jackson, (Nbjackso)

The purpose of this mod is to make the Navigation Map more useful and informative than the stock OM version.

NMMO is a combination of several different mods plus some modifications of my own.

-I based the map on the Shipping Chart download for SH5. (Note: convoy routes and allied air patrols are not included)
-Added etheberge’s German Map Label mod. (most locations are in German, but you should recognize the places, even if you don't know any German)
-Reworked zoom levels to prevent labels running into each other as much as possible. (Screen resolution will affect this).
-Reworked Naval base and Air base icons. (Note: No additional bases were added)
-Reworked map textures to better represent the look of an actual paper map.
-Added lighthouse icons. (Note: At certain zoom levels, the lighthouse icon will appear on the map as a black dot, until you zoom in closer)

Installation and Compatibility

This mod is JSGME compatible and should work with most other mods without much conflict.

Additional information available in the readme file in the Support directory.

Your suggestions/comments/feedback regarding this mod are welcomed and encouraged.

I hope you like it, and happy hunting

Default Special Thank You to etheberge

Although OM is not one of the mods I normally use. I have wanted to make this mod for quite some time, but I was dreading the thought of converting the text into German. Once I found etheberge’s German Map Label mod, I was inspired to work on this mod. Without all of his hard work, this mod probably would not have been made. Thank you my friend.

This is an instant must have mod, the map looks so much better it's night and day.

I love the color scheme you picked for the continents and the grid. The elevation work is very cool too, the whole thing is subdued and elegant.

Now we can have a great looking nav map on both the American and German side.

Bravo Zulu!

I forgot about this thread. I don't remember why I didn't download it the first time, but I have it now. Thanks Nbjackso for your work, and thanks seaplate hitman for bringing it back up.

If anyone is having problems with this mod, I'd like to know about them and try to help.

@jaxa--

If you give me a list of the mods you use, (in order). Ill see if I can duplicate the problem with my system, and see if I can correct the problem.

@all--

If you have any comments or suggestions to improve this mod, I'd love to know about them.

Default me too

I, too, have a similar problems. The auto course line feature of SH4 does not work.

I have OM/OMEGU/Kiub and various mods. including stock map icons (showing ships and planes.)

If you send me a list of your mods, I'll see what I can do to correct the problem. The issue might be the same thing that jaxa is experiencing.

Default Test results

@jaxa-

I enabled ALL mods in the same order that you listed in your previous post, and I'm sorry to say that I did not experience anything unusual while using my nav map mod. Here is an example of what I am seeing.

If this is not what your talking about, maybe you could post a picture of the problem you are having.

Hi thanks for sharing this work. Just downloaded and I like it!

I wonder what version of OM & OMEGU did you use in this? Is it latest? OM+OMEGU latest versions as listed below:
  • OM v705
  • OM v720
  • OM v720 Patch 5
  • OMEGU v300
  • OMEGU v300 Patch 7

The reason I am asking is, JGSME warns about the following files.
Code:
"Allies_NavalBases.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item1)__OpsMonsun_V705" mod.
"Allies_NavalBases.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item2)__OMv705_to_V720" mod.
"Axis_AirBases.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item1)__OpsMonsun_V705" mod.
"Axis_AirBases.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item2)__OMv705_to_V720" mod.
"Axis_NavalBases.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item1)__OpsMonsun_V705" mod.
"Axis_NavalBases.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item2)__OMv705_to_V720" mod.
"Campaign_LOC.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item1)__OpsMonsun_V705" mod.
"Campaign_LOC.mis" has already been altered by the "01.(OpsMonsun).(item2)__OMv705_to_V720" mod.
Now this may be perfectly normal and even if caused issues, it won't normally be a problem if it broke something right away (as I can unload mod & reload one of my backup savegames).

However it would be heartbreaking if this somehow fails in the long term, such as 5-10 patrols later in the game so please let me know, thanks!

PS - Sorry if this sounds a bit paranoic, I have a good & surprisingly long running (by my standards) career at the moment, I have nightmares of seeing it ruined

Thanks for your interest. It has been awhile since I have Played OM, but I will answer your questions based on what I can remember regarding the mod. As far as your load-out is concerned, That is basically the same that I used. I also used; OM_Med_Env, OM_SH3_Command_Keys and OMEGU_English. The mod itself barely changes any game-play aspects. Mainly it just changes the appearance of the Navigation Map. The mod is almost 1 year old, with almost 300 downloads, and an A+ rating. I have had almost no negative feedback from people using the mod. I hope this answers you questions, and addresses any concerns you have. If you have any other questions/concerns, feel free to post them here. I visit the SUBSIM website almost every day, and check on new posts in the SH4 ATO Mods forum.

Good Luck, and Happy Hunting
