Default Lower fps driving U boats as opposed to fleet boats!?

Has anybody else notice a major FPS hit when commanding a U-boat?

I purchased the gold edition with U-boat addons included dvd.

When driving any of the US subs I get around 14/20 FPS which is do able

Put me on the bridge of a type IXc and that drops to around 8 which is not!

at first I thought it might be scenery related but even mid ocean away from everything it still hovers around 9 FPS.

Not sure what the precise frame rates are, but there is a noticeable difference for me on my laptop between U-Boats and Fleet Boats; enough to make the U-Boats all but unplayable due to lag...

oddly enough i get the opposite effect, a 5-6fps increase when playing uboat add-on, but thats probably just a quirk of my crappy laptop integrated graphics.

Anyway, it could be because the IX sub is a stupidly detailed model and has quite a bunch more polys than the fleet boats, plus i think some changes were made to the environment/ocean with the add on which may be hitting your framerate.

Theres probably not much you can do, just go through the graphics menu and keep turning stuff off untill its playable again, personally i find volumetric fog and full screen glare have the highest impact of framerates.

See Rubini's thread on modifying video card setup; also, you might try turning off stuff you don't need via AlacrityPC.

sounds like you need a new card. maybe the U-boats are the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back". it's possible the IXD2 may have a higher ploy model and your card can't handle it
