Yes, you can open any of the subs text files, ie usn_ssn_permit_68, and find the weapons section, and replace usn_mk16 with usn_mk48 and that should do it.

Default 1968

Hi. New to the forum... first post.

Just to say, in 1968 there was no operational MK-48 torpedo. To add the capability would give one an enormous advantage over the rest of the 1968 world.

I served on three SSN-637's in that era and two Diesel Boats prior to it.

I'm still trying to figure out if my old laptop would be able to run Cold Waters.

Depends on how old but in general the CW system requirements are quite modest as I've been able to run it on a low cost x-86 tablet as well as a 13 year old Core 2 Duo PC. In both cases frame rates and settings aren't ideal but the game is still very much playable for me (above 20 fps and not choppy) so I'm inclined to say it would work fine for you.

Welcome aboard! Boomer sailor here myself. Adding the Mk-48 does exactly as you stated, which I'd imagine is the appeal.

I qualified on the Barbel in the late 80's (we were homeported in Sasebo along with the Darter) and went to the Bremerton when she de-commed.

I wanted a 637 stretch on my resume but it was too late.

Welcome aboard.

I'm playing CW on my 2009 MacBookPro with a core2 duo processor and have no problems.

Running on laptop: My experience was that my i5 2.8 GHz was not enough to run good FPS with default settings, so I had to switch down the grafics. But my grafics card was also less than 2GB. I then moved the game to a powerful i7 desktop.

Default Laptop Coming Tomorrow

Thanks for the welcomes and the advice.

Decided to replace my old, tired, laptop with a Dell - G Series 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 - 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD.

Arrives tomorrow. That should do the trick.

Looking forward to trying my hand at this... reading some of the other threads convinces me that there are some pretty sharp individuals playing and demonstrating sound Submarine Tactics. Cool!

Commissioned PARGO and TREPANG, served on BERGALL and T-1 and also QUILLBACK. Served as Submarine Repair Superintendent at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in the late 1970s, Commissioning Repair Boss on AS-40 in CHASN, and finally as the Director of Ship Silencing for NAVSEA in the early 80s.
